Conception

Can you scare a period away? or am I pregnant (no chance, surely...)?

Ok, not sure this is really a conception question but figure you ladies are most likely to know the answer!

DH and I are not yet TTC - we have a holiday booked for the New Year which will involve lots of jabs/malaria tablets etc so were going to try after then (for the first time... eek!).

I've just realised that I might get my period whilst on holiday, so I decided to go back onto Yasmin for a couple of months so I can regulate things/double pack if needs be. I took my first pill 4 days ago, on what I thought was Day 1 of my period. But, without getting too graphic, it never really kicked in!

So, can starting the pill postpone/cancel a period? Or should I start worrying that I'm pregnant (have been relying on condoms for about 6 months now, which I always thought was the safest option, although my doctor seems to think is a high-risk strategy!

This happened to anyone else?

Try taking a test?

Hi,

I wouldn't worry too much. That always happened to me. I'd start the pill on Day One, as per instructions, and then my period would come to a stop, not to start up again until I was on my week's break.

Having said that, if in any doubt, I'd take a test before continuing on the pill, because if there were a chance of you being pregnant, taking the pill would be a really bad idea.

Hope that helps. Let us know.
