Pretty sure I ov'd on Fri and Sat (CD 10/11) - lots of EWCM (and was at my parents so couldn't do anything about it ).

But just noticed some reeeaaallllyy stretchy stuff - several inches - even though it was more cloudy than clear.

Could I still be fertile? Should I jump DH tonight? Or rather, want to anyway but will there be point from TTC angle ?

Oh do it. It's Christmas.

You're possibly still fertile. I get ewcm for several days before I actually ovulate and then it drops off VERY rapidly.

Have you had sex recently?

Oh, I will...

But from ov point - have I been a dimwit? I thought EWCM meant you WERE ovulating...?

No not necessarily. EWCM is your body preparing a receptive environment for sperm, giving it a little home until an egg is ready and helping to transport it to the right place. This is why you can have sex 5 days before you ovulate and still get pg. The sperm can thrive in the ewcm your body has made and hang around until the egg is released. I think the majority of women have a few days of ewcm that peaks with actual ovulation and then rapidly drops off. So ewcm for days and then the actual release of the egg over a couple of hours. I can feel ovulation, it takes about 4hrs for me and when it finishes, the ewcm stops being produced immediately but it's there for a few days beforehand.

EWCM means you're fertile, but not that the egg is being released iyswim.

Does that make any sense at all to you?

Seeing ewcm is a good cue to have sex, you're utterly right there!

Ahh.... this has just answered a question for me... My cycles are always 28 days without fail, but I get EWCM on day 11, so I though "odd - v short luteal phase"... but maybe thats a couple of days before actual ov...

I ovulate on day 11 of a 28 day cycle. It's actually a long luteal phase comparitively!
