Rubbish GP is it worth going private for fertility checks?

HI everyone,

MY GP is pretty crap and I'm worried that I'm getting a bit fobbed off by them (have seen 2 so far). Does anyone know if you can refer yourself privately to have tests done to check that all is in working order. I really can't bear to have to wait for a whole 6 months more before my GP will even start listening to me & helping find out if DH and I have any problems.
Any thoughts/recommendations would be lovely

thanks Ladies for all your help. Going to see GP in the new year & take it from there. In the mean time lots of BDING

one final qu- I had fsh & lh checks done & GP said this was normal_ i've read that you need to have these done at certain points in your cycle tho. Is that right?

Confuzzled- you sound a bit like me! I came off pill at 27, didn't get a period for 3 months and thereafter my cycles ranged from 38-60 days! Very frustrating and the stress of this did nothing to help me ovulate. We were fortunate enough to be able to go private and they straightaway did a scan and diagnosed PCOS. But I then conceived the next cycle- a lot to be said for feeling like there was someone there to listen etc. They would have given me clomid if I hadn't got pg to try and reduce my cycle length. We're now TTC no.3!

You need to have LH, FSH and oestrodil tested on CD 2-4 and progestorone on 7dpo(this one tests if you've ovulated but hard to know when to go in for the test if you don't know when/if you're ovulating.

Good luck and definitely worth going private if you can afford to

THanks ilovethebeach - finally had a proper period and have started charting.

Who did you see privately? Bonus time is coming up & feels like it'd be money wel spent for peace of mind.

Do you mind me asking roughly how much it costs?

THanks x
