Experiences of implantation bleeding or mid-luteal phase spotting please?

I am worrying myself silly. I know the only thing to do is wait and see but just wondered if others could share their experiences/ advice to help me get through these next few days.

FF says I ov'd on CD18 - I have a clear biphasic chart pattern. Am now 12DPO. On 7DPO I had a temp dip followed by a sharp rise. Sorry, the next part is a bit TMI. On 8DPO I had a spot of pink stained CM. On 9DPO in the evening I started very light red and brown spotting. This has continued until this morning, with some very tiny stringy brown clots. Every time I think AF is coming, it trails off. My temps are still high. I have very mild lower abdominal cramps intermittently as well.

Has anyone had implantation bleeding that lasted this long (today is the 5th day in total, 3rd day of continuous spotting) and matched this description? Or is it likely that something else is wrong?

I have been pregnant twice and both times I had implantation bleeding. First time so long ago I can't remember (except that in my naivety I mistook it for a light period), the most recent time it was red blood, but only for 1.5 days, with no cramps. I have never had mid-luteal phase spotting except when I was pregnant. But my cycle has taken 6 months to come back to normal after a mc in Jan, so I suppose anything is possible.

Any experiences or suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi all just wondering how we are all doing - anyone with anything to report ? Still no news good or bad for me - am starting to allow myself a little bit of hope ( always a dangerous thing ) however just got news last night that a good friend has become very seriously ill - it kind of puts all of this into perspective ! No matter what happens this month I have my health and my dh !

2ndDestiny · 04/09/2009 14:11

Hi Elle sorry to hear about your friend.

Tigerbear how are you getting on today?

Well my news is nothing exciting... I caved in and tested last night, very stupid I know so much for my resolve to wait... and of course it was BFN .

This a.m. the spotting continues but is predominantly red now... still not a normal AF but I think I have to count it as one... although my temps are still up, but maybe that is normal during AF??? I am so confused by what is going on.

Am still worrying myself stupid and waiting for my Gynie to call me back (which I bet she doesn't).

Hope you are all ok today.

Hi all caved in and bought a test - plan to do it in the morning as a greater chance of it being accurate ! Keeping everything crossed and trying not to get too hopeful !! Good luck

tigerbear · 04/09/2009 21:07

2ndDestiny about the BFN - it's just too tempting to do the tests isn't it? Stupid things! I've got another test left from the twin pack I bought yesterday, and will try to hold out until Tuesday.
My bleeding is lighter, and no more cramps, so still no idea what is going on, but am feeling strangely more positive today. Good luck with the test Elle01!

2ndDestiny · 05/09/2009 09:58

Tigerbear I am glad to hear your bleeding is lighter and less crampy. Let's hope that's a good sign, although I know the horrible waiting game is not over for you yet.

Elle good luck let us know how it goes! Hope you have better luck than me this month.

Thanks all for the commiserations on the BFN. Actually I feel upbeat again today. AF is definitely here good and proper and my temps are coming down. This may not sound like a reason to celebrate, but I missed 4 periods after my mc in Jan, and this cycle which has just ended was the first time I ovulated normally since before the mc (confirmed by blood test), so even though the BFN is a disappointment it is great to know my ovaries are finally working again!

good luck and babydust to everyone x

Hi guys afraid bfn this month !! Beginning to feel a bit resigned to never getting pregnant again !! My ds started school today - and would have been due next week if I hadn't had the mc !! That said we just can't feel too bad considering the very bad news our friend received ! Good luck to you all - stay in touch you never know maybe this month may be our lucky month

2ndDestiny · 07/09/2009 11:56

Hi elle, sorry to hear about your BFN, did AF get you finally? Mine has been a killer this month! Let's hope for better luck for us both next month. Are you doing anything to mark your due date? My due date passed recently after my mc in Jan. It was hard, but a relief to get it over and in the past.

Also hoping that tigerbear has some good news soon.

Hi Elle01, sorry to hear about BFN! Take it easy this week and next, and do something nice to give yourself a treat - I know it won't distract you from thinking about what might have been next week, but at least be kind to yourself.

2ndDestiny - thanks for your comments. Are you ok, and did your gynae call you back?
The bleeding is back! Very light, but it's there all the same. I went to buy my 'ultimate' test for tomorrow, and ended up getting a twin pack of Superdrug and a twin pack of Clearblue - and of course did one of them as soon as I got home - the temptation of them sitting there was just too much!!! Did a Superdrug one, which came up positive, but I think the real teller will be when I do the Clearblue Digital tomorrow. It will then be a week since I did the very first test, and if it comes up Pg 2-3 weeks I'll be more hopeful. If it still says 1-2 weeks, I''l obviously know things haven't progressed as they should. Can't wait until tomorrow- one way or another, I just want to know what's going on.

2ndDestiny · 07/09/2009 17:44

Hi tigerbear
Those tests are just too much of a temptation, aren't they? I am thinking sticky thoughts for you for tomorrow, the wait must be unbearable - I hope you are hanging in there. I would encourage you to try to get your blood HCG levels tested by your dr as well since that will be even more conclusive than a clearblue test - it's ridiculous the way that dr treated you.
I'm ok, thanks for asking, I strongly suspect I had a chemical pregnancy/early mc after all that spotting and the horrific AF I'm having - I'm not upset because obviously I could be wrong about this - but a little worried about my chances of future success - but then I'm a a worrier and may be worrying needlessly! I feel positive and hopeful for next month. We are not in a huge rush.
Do let us know how it goes tomorrow if you feel up to it. x

hi thinking really good thought for you tomorrow tigerbear. Good Luck

tigerbear · 07/09/2009 22:05

Hello - well, I couldn't wait until tomorrow!
Did the Clearblue earlier, and it now says 2-3 weeks pg!!!!

Very pleased - surely that means I am really pg? If it was a chemical pg, it wouldn't increase to 2-3 weeks?
Anyway, I am making an appointment to try to see the Early Pregnancy Unit at our local hospital asap, rather than go back to the doctor. DH is really pleased too, but isn't at the excited stage, as he wants us to get a 'proper confirmation; of it from the hospital, as I don't think he rates the home tests. Just think he is being really cautious, as doesn't want me to get my hopes up too much. On the other hand, when I discussed with him about me not continuing my running training (I'm meant to be doing a half marathon next week), he asked why not? I know other people mention that exercise is normal in pregnancy, but AIBU to think that a half marathon would be unneccessary stress on my body at this stage? Fair enough I might have done it if I hadn't had any bleeding, but as things are I don't want to risk it.

Jaqi · 08/09/2009 06:04

Hi all, hope nobody minds mi saying Im a guy..just wanted to clear my level of knowledge on such matters, which isnt that much.

Unfortunately my girl isnt the type to be caught on a talk board like this, but fortunately for her, I am..coz I do care, oh she does too..shes just that type.

Anyway heres the deal, Ive read through most of the post on this talk..and Im so hoping we're in the same boat with most if not all y'all.
Its my first time on the board so allow me to explain myself.

My girlfriend and I both want a child but have agreed to not stress each other out over it for now..but secretly we're both dying with hope.
After her calculated ovulation days and at the end of the week of her expected but (usualy up to 2mths) late period, we had intercourse and I noticed her discharge odour, feeling incompetent I told her she might be expecting her period, after investigating she agreed.

I have no idea what spotting is, but she told me she only bled once after that with a small amount visible on her pads and that was it..I could see in her eyes she was hoping too, Most of you have said your spotting was usualy only visible through wipes, does it make ours diffrent?

Is it possible I triggered it off in intercourse? coz we both think so, and is there still a chance.

What should we be expecting in the weeks to come.

2ndDestiny · 08/09/2009 08:24

Hi tigerbear that's great news! Think it is a good idea to see your EPU to investigate the bleeding and check that all is ok, but it does suggest that you haven't miscarried at this stage as HCG must be rising. I really hope the EPU confirms that for you.

Jaqi, if your girlfriend has had something like implantation spotting then I would recommend waiting about a week after that, then she should take a pregnancy test. That's the only way to really find out what's going on. Good luck.

tigerbear · 08/09/2009 13:55

Hi 2ndDestiny - thank you - I've been trying to get an appointment with the EPU all morning, but no-one picks up the phone. Will keep trying.

Jaqi - hello, it's nice to see a man taking such an interest in what is going on with their girlfriend's cycle. As 2ndDestiny said, the only way to find out for sure, is to get her to take a test in about a week to check. I'm definitely not an expert on these matters (see all of my scared posts!) - but I'm pretty sure you can't cause spotting / mc from intercourse (I could be wrong though), don't take my word for it. I hope things work out for you both - keep us posted.
