Is it possible to be pregnant and still get a neg test result,a week after af is due?

Title says it all really.
We haven't been ttc but I have had lots of early pregnancy symptoms for the last 2 weeks, have done many tests and they have all been negative.
Have sore boobs, have been feeling sick, had headaches, weeing alot more, metallic taste in my mouth,cramps/backache and heightened sense of smell.Feel like I'm imagining it,every time I get a negative result.
Anyone else had the same?
Thanks

Bluesnow-maybe do another test in a few days and if you still get a negative, but aren't convinced, then go and see your gp.
I did go and see mine, who wasn't actually that helpful. She also told my the hpt's are very accurate and it was highly unlikely that I am pregnant/She said if I still feel like this in a couple of weeks, then to go back and have a blood test done.I haven't done a test for a couple of days now,so will hold out for as long as possible, then do another one.
I also had very bad stomach pains last night, which had me worrying, although they have subsided now.

I rang GP and was told that they wouldn't worry if i don't have any AF for 2 -3 months and to sit back, relax and enjoy! Feel beeter for knowing this and will do as I'm told until next one should be due I guess unless something really obvious happens in the meantime

Stay in touch through here though and we can keep each other going if you like

Bubbaloo · 07/08/2009 14:34

Wow,you'll be patient if you can wait another 2-3 months.I wouldn't be able to wait that long.
Myt next af should be due in about 10 days time,so it should be interesting to see what happens.
Keep us posted and I shall do the same.

Well decided that in the meantime i'll talk my DP in to as much fun as possible to practise That and hope that it arrives sooner or that by the end of the month when next AF is due that I'm pg without even thinking bout it - much!!!

Hello, I am now 21 weeks pregnant and I got negatives for 3 1/2 weeks after my AF was due. Told the doc and she sent me for an early scan and they dated me 4 weeks later than my predicted due date (moved from 17th Nov to 12th dec). doc thought it was just a very long cycle and they work out due dates based on a 28 day cycle (I am usually 32-36 days), so this would explain it.
Also, my DD was 2 weeks overdue and they put me back a week with that one, so it could just be that you have had a very long cycle...?

bluesnowfalcon · 07/08/2009 17:04

HelenofSparta Thanks - I'll bare that in mind and see how I feel in a week or so and retest if symptoms return as they seem to have subsided. Occasional headaches and vague not quite right feeling lingering and slightly sore nipples still going on but rest seems to have eased.

Could well be a long cycle - guess all I can do is wait and see

Congrats on pg - good luck with it all

mumabee · 07/08/2009 18:24

Bubbaloo - Do you still have the stomach pains? Fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks.

Bluesnow - thanks for the welcome. I would probably give it another week and test again. 2-3 months seems like a very long time to wait. The not knowing but having symptoms would get the better of me. Good luck.

AF seems to have made an appearance this afternoon, I was on CD37, am usually regular and have a 27-29 day cycle. I am looking forward to starting again, it was a bit stressful as it was our first cycle and will hopefully enjoy it lots more this time round.

Bubbaloo · 07/08/2009 23:35

Bluesnow-enjoy your fun with your dp and will keep fingers crossed for you.
Helen-that's really interesting.Just goes to show every pregnancy is different.Hope it all goes well for you.
Mumabee-shame about af,but at least you can also have lots of fun ttc aswell.
Thankfully the stomach pains have gone but I have had niggly aches and pains today and have worried myself sick,Googling them.I even phoned the epu at the hospital but was told they wouldn't scan me,as a pregnancy hasn't been confirmed,by a positive test. They also told me that if it got worse and I even went to A&E,it would be the same, due to the negative tests, and they wouldn't even take it into account that I could possibly be pregnant.
I've also had a very stressful few weeks, with both ds's down with chicken pox, aswell as dh.Ds1 also had an operation on Weds and dh has also been in hospital with an asthma attack,so that could all be playing a big part in this too.
I'm hoping to have a nice rest at the weekend,so hopefully that may help.

Bubbaloo - enjoy your rest over the weekend and keep us posted!

Mumabee - sorry bout AF thought mine was going to make an appearance last night but no show still yet. Enjoy and make the most of the practising with DP/H.

Really hard to try not to think about it and still bein sensible with food and drink incase. Went out last night and drove so i wouldn't have to explain not drinking in case i'm pg! No-one batted an eyelid at me on OJ which was good and then still bein good incase.

AF arrived finally 7 days late and I spoke to the GP about the rest of my blood results yesterday (hCG being negative). Nothing interesting to note, but she said that periods often come late when the weather has been very hot. That's why she asked when I went to see her whether I had been on holiday in the tropics.

So AF was just late due to warm weather. Pah!

Anyway we have one final IVF. I have a consultation with the specialist in a couple of weeks and then it's the last go. What will be will be.

bluesnowfalcon · 09/08/2009 09:23

AF arrived last night so 6 days late - at least that means that pill is out of my system now.

FarawayWe - good luck with the IVF and hope you suceed

Bubbaloo · 09/08/2009 19:26

FarawayWe-best of luck with the IVF.Really hope it works for you.

Bluesnow-best of luck with you too and like you say,it's now good to know that the pill is out of your system.Fingers crossed.

Still no 'proper' af for me and still getting lots of symptoms.Haven't been too good these last couple of days, with pains on one side.Ended up going to a&e this afternoon, and was told they can't do anything until I get a positive test result.Very frustrating, although I'm feeling ok now.

Bubbaloo Sorry to hear you still are not feeling good hope it starts getting better soon

mumabee · 10/08/2009 14:02

Bubbaloo - How are you doing? Sorry to hear about the various ailments with your family. It sounds very stressful and that you have a lot on your plate. I hope you get well soon.

Bluesnow - Sorry about AF and like your thinking, that this AF shows that the pill is out of your system. Happy BD'ing for this month, fingers crossed.

FarawayWE - Best of luck with the IVF. I hope it works for you.

Baby Dust for all this month

Bubbaloo · 11/08/2009 22:47
