Clearblue OPK and duration of 'surge'

I have invested in a clearblue digital OPK this month. Have been using it daily and eventually got a smiley face today.

However, when I tested about 3 hours later (don't ask why!) the smiley face had disappeared.

Is this normal? Does the surge just last for a very short period of time? If I hadn't happened to test at the time I did earlier today I would have missed it.

Have people found clearblue OPKs reliable in general?

Thanks

I used one and never got that smiley face, I was beginning to think I wasn't ovulating but then 2 weeks ago I got my BFP so I must have been ovulating after all.

I know its easier said than done but try to relax about it a little and don't rely too much on OPK

Good luck xx

I think it has to be first thing in the moring urine in order for the test to detect it. After that, the hormone isn't concentrated enough.

I used to get the smiley face two days on the trot.

thank you

I thought it was the other way round - I thought the hormone built up during the day so it was better to test later? But I'm obviously wrong

Thanks

Do it twice a day near to your ov time in order to catch the surge.
