Possibly TMI but bad period pain after orgasm in Luteal Phase?

Okay just looking for some reassurance/info about this odd thing. As long as I have been having orgasms I have always known my period is on its way because I will start having period pain after an orgasm for about 10mins. Sometimes it can be very painful other times just a bit of a dull ache across my lower back. Since I started charting for TTC I have now registered this happens from the day after ovulation up until my period arrival. So this is 11 days (I have a slightly short luteal phase). I have mentioned it to doctors and gynaes and they were at a bit of a loss.
I tried googling it (ALWAYS a bad idea) and found reference to it being a symptom of endo. Anyone have any other ideas? Any other experience of such a weird thing?! Have been TTC for 5 months and in the middle of the associated insanity!

My mum took three years to concieve her first (me) and we both have retroverted uteruses so I suspect I may take a similar time. Can't quite bring myself to ask her whether she also suffers from pain after orgasm near her period!!!

Hehe I never think anything is TMI (I work in sexual health!) but I always add a TMI for the more sensitive amongst us!

Im not really sure if I can be much help, I suffered a mc in Nov at 10wks pg. However, I noticed that while pg I also suffered period like pain after orgasm. I thought it could be something to do with the fact that an orgasm causes the womb to contract and that may cause the pain.

A retroverted uterus should actually cause no problems on the ttc front. Some women only discover they have a retroverted uterus when they are pregnant.

Any mid cycle pain particularly if it is cyclical in nature should be investigated further. It can indeed be a symptom of endometriosis.

If the menstrual period happens to be very painful as well this can also be symptomatic of endo too.

The problem with endo as well if it is present is that it is often only diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy. NO other test be it blood test or internal ultrasound will detect it as the endometrical deposits are very small.

Am going to start keeping a diary of the cramps (hehe will end up also being an orgasm diary) just so i know when they start etc then may haul myself to the docs again.

sorry for my ignorance, can endometriosis cause misscarriages? as i had this kind of pain too when i was pregnant both times?:S

im not really sure what endo is but I have PCOS is it possible to have both at the same time????

I just wanted to say I also experience the same pain and so always know when I have ovulated. I have never asked anyone about it so don't know why it is.

I have a retroverted uterus and PCOS so maybe it is something to do with this. I have an 18month old son and am now trying to conceive a second.

Off to the docs friday so will try and find out more then.

In fact think I may start using it as my ovulation indicator. Much nicer than furkling for cm and cervix position and taking temp and weeing on sticks!

Just found this thread. I have the exact same situation of cramping after orgasms post ovulation. I have just had a miscarriage and am concerned it is related. Did anyone find out what causes the cramping, endo etc?
