That's it really. We're starting April 1st. I'm so excited. I need to talk about it!!! I'm even thinking about baby names already lol.

Anyone in a similar boat?

Morning ladies!

So we ended up going to the 'disco' last night! DD partied the whole night away, me and DP couldn't keep up with her bless her!

Hope you all had good evenings, and wishing you good luck for 2009!

MOB congratulations, sorry I seem to have missed that earlier in the thread!

oneyummymummy · 01/01/2009 19:11

MBM How do you follow your cycle through CM? Think i might thry to do it this way too for a while and see what happens! But when you get CM (like egg whites ) does this mean you are ovulating that same day or it is coming up?

monkeybumsmum · 01/01/2009 22:15

Happy New Year! Hope it was better than you expected mm. I was dreading it too, but in the end it was okay. Just got a bit tearful at midnight

OYM Sounds like you had fun! Lovely to hear about dd partying away, don't you wish you could bottle their energy sometimes

Re CM - I think generally OV occurs after a few days of having CM, when it's at its 'stretchiest'. Nice. I tried going by that for a few cycles before I first fell pg, but it seems that I OV right at the beginning of the CM. For me the CM usually starts on CD14. I know that I've got pg twice now by bd'ing on the day that the CM starts, but I think everyone is different. I s'pose the best thing to do is to watch your cycle and note when CM starts, and when AF arrives so you can make an estimate as to when you're OV'ing. The luteal phase (time from OV to AF) is generally 14 days, but it can vary apparently. Bit like pinning the tail on the donkey if you ask me! I think maybe I just got lucky!

Does that make any kind of sense at all? If not then blame it on the tiredness from a rather late night (or should I say early morning ). Anyone else got any advice re CM??

monkeybumsmum · 01/01/2009 22:29

Knew I'd got something wrong - CM should read EWCM (Egg White Cervical Mucus) It's all very complicated isn't it!

oneyummymummy · 01/01/2009 23:29

Ahhh, ok! Its a little too confusing for me! I didnt realise how little i knew about why all these things happen until i needed to know!

Well I suppose we will just have to find out one way or another! I dont have regular cycles so I should try to plot it all in my diary!

monkeybumsmum · 02/01/2009 10:07

It's probably my fault for not explaining it very well .

I think it's a really good idea to put it all in your diary, that how I worked out what was happening. Maybe you'll see a pattern forming? How irregular is your cycle?

Am feeling v excited again today about ttc. Am starting to worry a little about my gynae appt later this month though, in case he says we have to wait longer. I'll be so upset if that's the case.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

oneyummymummy · 02/01/2009 10:27

Well when I say irregular im not exactly sure of how irregular, but I know not every 4 weeks, probably 6-7weeks but I think its different every month! But by putting it all in a diary I may just see that they are not too irregular now after dd!

I think I'll be ok to start TTC Its been 18 months since my C-section, thinks thats the recommended time to wait these days! Although Im not sure if maybe I should go to see the doctor just to make sure?!

MumofBaby · 03/01/2009 11:52

Hi Everyone, glad everyone had a nice new year.

While we're on CM, I got pregnant by watching this last time. A gynae lady told me to watch out for it- and I got pregnant the next month! I get pains (mild) and twitches in one or the other ovary on the 11th day of the month, and last time I got pregnant on the 12th day. So I think the pains are ovulation (my mum gets the same thing). I'm going to try to work off this this time too.

Had a little accident on New Years Eve- a little too much champers and we ended up not using contraception (I can't use the pill or anything as I'm allergic to the hormones) so I had to get the morning after pill. Which I was quite upset about as I want a baby. But we're getting married in 7 months and the dress is ordered, so it's just not feasable to be 7 months pregnant. I wouldn't be able to fly to the wedding heavily pregnant anyway. Dp and I are both very broody. Anyway, the hormones in the morning after pill made me poorly, bloated and sore tummy, and very depressed and irrational, but I didn't get the rash this time which is good!

MBM- I'm sure your gynae appt will go fine, try not to worry about it and I'll send you lots of good thoughts and vibes!

OYM- Thanks. Bless your LO dancing the night away. DS is just learning to dance (before he can walk might I add). He loves music, so if any comes on TV that he likes (even advert music) we have to hold his hands so he can dance

Goodness me I could not be more broody today. I'm even on Amazon looking for books on good birthing. I think I might buy that Ina May book. Has anyone read it? Has anyone tried hypnobirthing? Or are you going to try it this time? I had such a bad birth last time that I want to get things sorted in advance this time.

Hi MOB Had a mad cooking day so not been on MN as much as I'd wanted... Poor you re morning after pill, it can make you feel awful. I know someone who took it and she was really poorly too

You've just reminded me about asking my friend, so I shall try to ring her tomorrow...

It is very exciting isn't it . Those broody feelings are dangerous! Thanks for the good vibes for my appt - it's on the 21st and I'll definately need them!

Right, off to carry on cooking! Have a good evening x

oneyummymummy · 04/01/2009 09:58

MOB I find myself doing the same thing i.e looking for pregnancy info or looking up books! Good to know im not the only one!

MBM hope you got all of your cooking done, I had a bit of a mad sort out and ended up giving about SIX bags of stuff to charity and SEVEN bags of rubbish! Looking better for it though!

oneyummymummy · 04/01/2009 10:01

Oooooo...forgot to say, I got a diary for x-mas (quite cute actually from my nan) so I can n ow plot all of my CM VD and AF and try to see some kind of pattern! ....lets just hope nobody else looks through my diary for something , I think they will think im insane recording these things in my diary!!

MumofBaby · 04/01/2009 16:35

Ok MBM, I'll be thinking of you on the 21st. Not long to wait now! What did you cook? I WANT to cook, but I don't know what to cook.

OYM- Very good plan with the diary. I got a free ClearBlue Ovulation kit through the post and I've no idea why! At least now I can work out when I'm ovulating. I'm going to put it in my diary too. But then every last thing goes in my diary lol

Hi all,

I'm back. Is anyone still using this thread?

I'm house hunting at the mo. Desperate to get our own house before we get married in July. So lots happening this year!!

How is everyone getting on?

The lady across the road has just had a baby and it's made me want 1 even more!

OP posts:
Medee · 12/01/2009 22:08

Hi MoB, I'm still watching the thread, but it has been a bit quiet. I guess we're all just waiting... I've been reading a bit about fertility diets, and also have almost completely given up alcohol for the time being.

Ozziegirly · 14/01/2009 03:31

We're also starting to try in about 4 months - same as you Medee, I have just started a new job, and as you don't get any maternity provisions over here (Oz) until you've been with a company for a year, I need to wait a while. Plus it's not fair to take a new job and then get pregnant straight away I think.

So I'm being generally healthy, taking my folic acid and have a Drs appt at the end of the month to be tested for rubella, chicken pox, whooping cough and measles to see if I need any innoculations.

Will keep an eye on this thread - good luck everyone.

josie81 · 17/01/2009 01:29

Hi All

Hope you don't mind me joining your thread..we are planning to start after April, trying for our first...soooo excited!! Would like to start right now but financial stuff to sort out first and also we have a big holiday booked in April, might start trying then

Hobnob76 · 17/01/2009 11:29

Hi all,

We're going to be trying in Oct/Nov of this year, it seems like ages away though . We're so broody but need to wait a while as Hubby finishes his degree course this time next yr. Won't matter too much if I'm pg when it finishes.

SeaGreen · 27/01/2009 23:16

Medee hi,I think I will have to wait till Dec at least. credit crunch and all. though not sure i can hold out that long..
It's great that you can TTC sooner! good luck!
trying to get fitter and having folic acid. hopefully having waited so long it won't take too long after we finally get going..
Good luck to all of you!!

Ozziegirly · 29/01/2009 03:16

Well I'm off to Dr this weekend to get the tests done and see if there is anything else I should be doing to prepare at this stage.

One problem is DH is really not happy in his job at the moment so I wonder if that will put us off if decides to change.

monkeybumsmum · 29/01/2009 11:15

Good luck Ozziegirly! I did exactly the same before ttc ds...

Hope your dh is okay - what does he do? Do you think changing jobs is a possibility?

I had an appt last week with a consultant and he has given me the go ahead to try again, so am just waiting for AF now Think am due next Wednesday, and I can´t think about anything other than ttc at the moment!

Hope the time goes fast for all of you that are waiting!

Ozziegirly · 30/01/2009 05:01

Thanks mbm - good luck for the next couple of weeks!

DH works in a bank. He finds it dull and meaningless, but annoyingly it pays well, and it's hard to let that side of things go.

I'm all for him changing because I think life's too short to do something you don't like, and I think you just get by on what you earn.

We'll see - he changes his mind every day at the moment!
