Hi ladies. Am feeling down today after AF arrived a day early, meaning I am back down to 9 day LP. what else can I do other than B6 and agnus castor??

sammysam how are you feeling today? Have you booked in for your day21 tests?

lastboxoftampons · 19/12/2008 17:25

Kaster have you been to see your GP? it's really difficult here in the UK as you need a referral to see a GYN and most GP's don't seem to know much about LPD and women's cycles. If you're not having any luck with B6 or Agnus castus, I would definitely recommend seeing your GP for some testing. Low progesterone is one cause of LPD, and it's easily treatable, but it's best to find out why your LP is short in the first place.

I found this article really helpful: www.babyhopes.com/articles/luteal-phase-defect.html

Thanks lastbox, what a helpful article. Do you think the progesterone cream might help? I think I will give the B6 / agnus castor another month and then see the GP again. I have been once, to talk about ttc in general (this was only first month of trying) and discussed my cycles. I told her I had been using OPKs and worked out that I only had 9 days between ov-ing and AF, (I used natural contraception for a year) and she said that was fine. I raised Q of LP defect and she laughed and said no. 9 days was plenty! Interestingly, she has an OB/GYN specialism apparently.... I wonder why it is so rarely mentioned by GPs?
Thanks again for your link

Hi lastbox and kaster, thank you for replies!
Feeling quiet down today as sure af will arrive tomorrow, sorry to hear af has got you kaster
Will book my tests when I can figure out the dates-and when i get over being down about af!
I actually bought that book a few months ago and looked through but was put off as felt i needed time to be able to digest it-and I never get time for things like that!!!
But i'm going to make a real effort to look at it over christmas as so many people rave about it (hence why i bought it!)

I just hope we are all put out of our missery soon-I know I can't take much more of it

I ordered some progesterone cream last night.... Going to try it in the second half of this cycle. Any experiences?

sammysam I am sorry you are feeling down. I definitely had two days of pretty much non-stop crying when AF arrived! It's so emotional this TTC rollercoaster... I hope you are feeling better soon x

sammysam · 21/12/2008 09:07

Thank you kaster the whole experience is far too emotional
But i'm just past a mental milestone now so hopefully I can try and relax a bit more for a while as i'm not aiming for something definate, although I know i'm kidding myself

Would the progesterone cream be a good idea to try even if you have been told your levels are ok? Where did you get it from?

I suppose at least with af here any moment i can try and enjoy christmas

Sorry about AF Sammy

Kaster the cream will only help if progesterone deficiency is the cause of your LPD. As per the article I posted, there are several different reasons why your LP might be short - all are treatable, but in different ways, so it's best to figure out why it's short before trying to treat it.
