We're just thinking about starting to try for DC2 and I was wondering how long it took everyone to get pregnant second time round?

One night (am 37).

CaptainKarvol · 07/10/2008 15:31

1st time was 2nd month of trying (age 34). TTC #2 took 13 cycles of actively trying (age 37).

billysitch · 07/10/2008 15:41

6 years with the first

18 months and 2 MC with the second due next May time

Wheelybug · 07/10/2008 15:44

1st pregnancy - 2 months
2nd pregnancy - 1 evening, ended in m/c
3rd pregnancy 2 years

LadyOfWaffle · 07/10/2008 15:49

We didn't use anything after DS1 and I became pregnant after nearly 2 years, but on the first month of actively 'trying' ie. timing it, lying with pillow under hips, legs in the air etc.

jlh69 · 07/10/2008 15:50

2 months- now 22 weeks pregnant
Took a year and a half with DD
Wasn't anticipating quite such a small gap...

Turniphead1 · 07/10/2008 15:54

I am a little , given how much trouble some people have, to have conceived DC1, 2 and 3 each on first month of trying. And I am 35 so wasn't a case of extreme youth. DH of course thinks it's him...

Do appreciate it is a very lucky thing however.

Mercy · 07/10/2008 16:01

Turniphead, I was just coming back to respond to anniemac's post in a similar way.

It really does seem luck of the draw. I was shocked to get pg with ds (dc2) for a number of reasons - my age, a previous miscarriage, a far from healthy lifestyle...

Fingers crossed for everyone.

ditheringdora · 07/10/2008 16:03

about six months or so with various efforts from half hearted to full on (am 33)

traceybath · 07/10/2008 16:04

22 long months - just 2 months with DS1. Had just been referred to assisted conception clinic when i found out i was pregnant.

MrsMattie · 07/10/2008 16:05

4 months - but had m/c. Started trying again 2 months later and it took 2 months to get pregnant (now 33 weeks!)

procrastinatingparent · 07/10/2008 16:07

2 months for ds1, 18 months for DD, 3 months for dS2 and 1 month for DS3. Those 18 months were very hard - agree with anniemac that it can be more common than you think.

I was 4 months pregnant when I discovered DD was inside!!!! Wasn't actively trying. Now TTC DC#2 and it feels like it is taking forever!!! DD is now 2 and I am gagging for another. No sign of period (due yesterday) so fingers and legs crossed!!!

Sweetie34 · 27/10/2008 14:40

That period doesn't look like its coming!!!

Marne · 27/10/2008 14:40

2 months

sorkycake · 27/10/2008 14:47

I was going to say 2 weeks, but I think I'm with flamebat on this one because it was 2 weeks after I stopped the pill that I tested positive.

With Dc3 I came off the pill and tested +ve 11 days later!

When I wanted no.4 and Dh wasn't sure, he was reluctant to sleep in the same bed for duffing me as quickly as before!

I do have friends in RL who have taken 2-3 years to conceive dc2 though and one couple have given up and adopted.
Good luck!

tassisssss · 27/10/2008 14:50

2 years and 2 miscarriages. It was very hard.

dc3 on the other hand i think was 2 cycles after my periods returning!
