I started a new job in august, towards the end. If i was pg now am i right in thinking i wld still have worked long enough to get SMP, so long as obviously i stayed employed in this job and worked until i was due? by my calcs it would be tight but id just about do it as i would of been there 26 weeks end of feb and baby would be due july?

Just got this off the DirectGov website for you:

To qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay you must have been:

employed by the same employer continuously (some breaks do not interrupt continuous employment) for at least 26 weeks into the 15th week before the week your baby is due; and
earning an average of at least £90 a week (before tax)

Hope that helps
