Hi all.. I am new to this site and am feeling a bit lost! Is there anyone that could take me under their wing and show me the ropes so to speak?
I am getting married in December and am hoping to get pregnant pretty much straight away! This is coming from a 31 year old who still doesn't know when her period is due each month and is embarrassed to admit that she only knows in relation to her best friend!

Can anyone offer me any advice on what I can do between now and Jan to get my head round it all and be in the best possible position excuse the pun for conception...?

Thanks

Christine

Not everyone agrees with coming off the pill early now, it's a very personal decision. Fertility expert Zita West actually recommends that you start trying as soon as you come off the pill, as research suggests that fertility may actually be boosted the first couple of months after stopping. She calls it the 'bounce back' effect (although, on the downside, your cycle could become irregular and make trying harder).

Good to see both sides of the debate April2009 I was just speaking from personal experience as I did not get my first period for 18 months after coming off the pill. I came off for personal reasons not TTC and it was a VERY long and stressfull wait. But I do realise my case is far from the norm I mean lots of people get a BFP after forgetting to take a pill or 2!

Didn't work for me and hasn't worked for loads of women I know. I sometimes wonder if this 'you're really fertile when you come off the pill' is actually correct. Or maybe it's different when you're on the mini-pill?

Yes, it's a complicated one. I don't know if anyone really knows the answer.

As Hever says, there are two sides to the debate. I know people whose periods have taken ages to return to normal. On the other side, I know of two people who got pregnant month one, and I did month two after stopping. I just wish there was some way to know in advance which group you'll be in...
