Just wondering so we can have some stories of hope. Anyone on here who took a while to conceive number 1? How long did it take and what if anything did the trick do you think? I think if I could look to the future and know we will have a family then I could relax now, but it's the not knowing that it will work out okay in the end that I find hard to deal with. That said, before I met my husband the same was true of being single - it would have been fine if i could look to the future and know I would meet him.

3.5 yrs to first conceive, but m/c ed at 12 weeks, and took another (very obsessive) 7 months to conceive after that, so from beginning ttc to giving birth was 5 years.

9 months with ds1 but didn't do much other than not using contraception. 1st attempt with dc2 due next January, the same thing has happened to a friend (quite a long time first time round, first go next time).

18 months with DD-common story of just about to go for IVF and it happened naturally. Now pg with DC2 and that took 2 months! (Slightly smaller gap than anticipated...).
