Anyone else in their mid-30s trying for a first baby?

I’m 34 (almost 35). I feel like age is really adding another layer of intense pressure and I’m really losing hope with every failed cycle. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. With every passing month I just imagine the few eggs I have (only god knows what quality they are) withering away!

Youre not old! I had babies at 36 and 39 and didn’t worry for a minute about my eggs. All my friends were the same. Not everyone is lucky but the likelihood is you will be fine.

Not old but my eggs certainly are! I’ve read quality declines from 35 onwards and I really wanted to have two. Glad you had two lovely babies, and yes I hope I’ll be one of the lucky ones!

At 34, your fertility is pretty much what it always was. And you do have years - not months - left in the game.

Yes, I was defo being hyperbolic about the withering! But there is a definite age-related decline in both egg quality and fertility. Lots of other considerations too like balancing care for ageing parents with a young child and them being too old to help etc

34 isn't old! I was the first of my friends to have a baby at age 32.

Family member has just had her first at 34, conceived a couple of months after the start of trying and I have two other friends who had their first at 34 and 35 with no issues. My MIL had her 5th at 36, 6th at 38 and 7th and final at 42.

Hi! Didn’t want to read and run as this was basically me a few years ago! I started TTC aged 34 and as I’d always had regular cycles naively thought I’d conceive easily. I got more and more stressed with each negative month, and massively kicked myself for leaving it “late” especially as I wanted two babies! In my whole life I’d never had a planned or accidental pregnancy and when it wasn’t happening I basically convinced myself I didn’t have any eggs in there, and/ or that my husband was firing blanks! After a year of no luck we started the ball rolling wirh fertility testing, but ironically we successfully conceived on the 17th month, on the DAY of our first infertility appt at the hospital. I Conceived just before my 36th birthday, and gave birth a few months before my 37th birthday, and am sat feeding my perfect baby boy now. We plan to start trying for another in the next few months as fully aware it may take a long time again or even not happen. I just wanted to share my story and say keep your chin up, and feel free ro PM me if you have any specific questions etc xxxx
