Positive test but been spotting for 10 days..?

Amazing news - I just had a desperately wanted positive pregnancy test! Two in fact. It would make me 4 weeks and 3 days. I last did a test on Friday which was negative.

However, I have had daily spotting / bloody discharge for the last 10 days. I believe that’s far too long just to be implantation which is supposed to be one day of spotting or so?

I’m concerned about whether this is a healthy pregnancy or not. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait? Has anyone else had this?

For context, I had an emergency c section 1.5yr ago whilst fully dilated. I don’t know if that will have an impact on future pregnancies.

Obv I have contacted the doctor for advice but would appreciate to know if anyone else has had this, whether the outcome was good or bad… thanks x

Dr said not good and has referred me to the hospital… I really hope someone out there has had early pregnancy spotting and had a successful pregnancy…!? 😳

Same boat here so don’t have an outcome to share. Started brown spotting on Saturday, GP wanted to see me urgently yesterday after doing online appointment form. Waiting for early pregnancy unit referral but they take up to 72 hours. Don’t know what to think tbh.

Hey, sorry to hear that. How many weeks are you? Hospital here was amazing - same day appointment. They checked with a transactional ultrasound for possible ectopic but unsurprisingly (only 4w3d) couldn’t see anything but did bloods and I got results that night (amazing) showing hcg and progesterone consistent with pregnancy. So it’s currently a “pregnancy of unknown location”. I’m going back at 6 weeks for another attempt at a scan. I think you can push for bloods every 48h to check for progression but I didn’t. Hope maybe this helps you in terms of what to prepare for. Their main concern seems to be the risk of ectopic.

rightly or wrongly I’m thinking positive and that my pregnancy will work out. I can’t say any of the doctors and nurses I saw seemed as optimistic 🥴

I had a very similar experience. She's going to be 12 on Friday. Fingers crossed

I spotted with both of my successful pregnancies. Had early scans every 2 weeks from 5 weeks with my local EPU and both were treated as Pregnancy Unknown Location. As soon as they saw the start of something in my womb, usually around 6-7 weeks they started me on progesterone suppositories. Took about 5-7 days of using them to stop spotting/bleeding completely but then nothing 😊 I did have repeat HCG’s every 48 hours though, 3 in total over a week timeline with both pregnancies to make sure numbers were doubling or very close to! My first HCG with my DS was 109 and they told me it was very low, the next one was 200 and they told me to expect the worst and hope for the best but he’s 13 months old now 😊 good luck! 🤞🏻 x

No they’re not doing any repeat bloods. My bloods at 4w3d was 68 HCG and 84.6 progesterone. They said that was consistent with pregnancy and to wait and see if they can locate a pregnancy in two weeks when I’m 6w.

i did two easy at home pregnancy tests this morning from the same urine sample (48h since first positive test and blood tests) to see if it was any darker - one was the same, one was darker 🤷‍♀️ who knows. Plan today is to be distracted and stay positive!

Glad you were seen so quickly and are doing well. I’m 5 weeks today so we’re around the same time.

The advice on my local early pregnancy unit website is a red amber green type grid and spotting / mild cramping is green with the advice being self care which in light of how seriously my GP took me is shocking really.

Still heard nothing so will call today.

Trying to remain hopeful but today’s pregnancy test doesn’t look as dark as they have been.

Some women spot throughout entire pregnancy. My friend still got regular bleeding which she thought was her period and only found out she was pregnant 6 month in
I’ve had brown blood in first week of my last pregnancy and all was good. I’m surprised the doc said to you that it wasn’t good, because they told me it may be the start of a miscarriage or it may be totally normal and fine.

I would ask for repeat bloods. That’s the normal procedure especially for pregnancy of unknown location x

I think your tests look encouraging. As mentioned I did two tests by the same brand today, holding them for the same length of time in the same urine sample pot, and one came out much darker than the other 🤷‍♀️ I think blood is the only reliable way to tell. Good luck today.
