Conceiving with adenomyosis and considering hysterectomy for symptom relief

looking for some help!

I’m 24 female and I’ve recently been diagnosed with adenomyosis, the pain has been really severe recently and the options for help are limited! They’ve just said the coil or the pill but I’ve had both previously and they just don’t agree with me and I also do want to start trying for another baby in the next year or so. I’m considering a baby sooner so I can look into a hysterectomy.

can anyone shed some light on how easy it was to conceive? And what’s the process of wanting a hysterectomy?

@ZingyUmberLion I can't answer on conceiving but the process for a hysterectomy in my experience was as follows.

The first step is that your GP has to refer you to a gynaecology consultant. If you are relying on the NHS, you will then go on a waiting list (unless cancer needs to be ruled out in which case you will go on an urgent pathway). If you have private medical insurance, the GP referral should enable you to see a consultant privately much more quickly.

Your consultant will review your symptoms and may order diagnostic tests before discussing treatment options. They may well want to try other solutions before hysterectomy, especially as you are still in your child bearing years.

If hysterectomy is agreed, you'll go on a waiting list for it (NHS) or your consultant will schedule it (private).

I hope you can make some progress. You should also look at whether you may have endometriosis as that can also cause terrible pain.
