AIBU to think this is a false positive?

Hi all,

Thank you in advance for reading my post and any responses.

For context, I lost a baby at 8 weeks and had to take miso 27/28th of Feb. I have had on and off bleeding/spotting since then; either brown DC or bloody DC rather than actual blood. I approached clinic 2 days ago as started getting lower back pain, who have booked me in for scan to check all has left the uterus, and doctors prescribed me antibiotics incase of infection due to the fact it was 6.5 weeks ago and they fee I should have stopped bleeding now . The test they gave me to check pregnancy was negative after 3 weeks, and 2 weeks ago I got a clearblue which said 1-2 weeks and I have taken cheapie tests since then which turned negative around 4 days ago so I haven’t done any since.

My back pain is still there so I randomly decided to test, and I have now got a very faint positive test. My DH thinks I am pregnant again however I don’t think so, due to the bleeding spotting I have had.

These are a picture of the tests, it is hard to see but the line is definitely pink not an evap line.

Do you think it’s likely a false positive from miscarriage or do you think, despite ongoing bleeding, I could possibly be pregnant again? These antibiotics cannot be taken if pregnant which is why I’m unsure.

Again, thank you in advance.

I'm sorry for your loss OP Flowers
I had medical management at 12 weeks. I bled on and off for 2mths! More spotting than anything but it would stop, then return for 2 days then stop. I was not advised to do a follow up pregnancy test! I wasn't on MN back then and it was my 1st pregnancy and loss, so had no idea that bleeding that long wasn't normal. They did say absolutely no intercourse, even with a condom, no tampons or baths if I was still bleeding and for at least 48hrs after I'd stopped bleeding. They said the cervix will still be open slightly and there was a risk of infection.

Finally, the spotting stopped then 2 days later the heaviest period I've ever had started and out came a small product of conception. I was scanned and also given anti biotics and all was clear.

If you've been having unprotected sex then yes, there is a chance of another pregnancy. I'm surprised they didn't advise about the risk of infection if still bleeding though? As a side note, I did buy cheapie sticks similar to the ones you have and had a false positive. I wasn't pregnant but when I looked into it, there had been an entire dud batch of cheapie sticks and there were lots of MN threads at the time. When is your scan booked for? Wishing you all the best.

This wasn’t even the typical thin clearblue line but it was still a false positive. I wasn’t pregnant.

That's a faulty test. The line isn't consistent.

Hi all,

Thank you for your replies. I have had a scan which has confirmed RPOC 3cm so I will be needing to take misoprostol to clear this. They believe this is what has been giving the lingering positives, definitely not pregnant again.

wish you all the best in your TTC journeys 🤍
