High follicle count on ultrasound while trying to conceive

Hi everyone,

today I went for an internal ultrasound as we have been ttc for over a year now, and the lady doing the scan told me I have 22 follicles in my left ovary and 19 in my right. She said everything looked normal. However after doing some online research it seems this is a very high number? I haven’t had any IVF treatment yet, partner had analysis today and we get our results next week. Anyone else had a high amount? I am also 31

My high follicle count ended up being PCOS but that wasn’t properly explained to me until we went for IVF.

Yes this is a high number, I'm assuming NHS? They're so much better than private clinics to ensure odds are in your favour. It means there are more opportunities for you to have good eggs, which can be frozen. Please however don't be disheartened if only a couple, it doesn't matter. All you need is one good egg which reacts with the sperms.

Sorry please excuse mistakes, can't see what I type and can't edit.

My first time with IVF, so many follicles but only a few viable eggs. Wishing you better luck, sure it will be more, just being realistic to avoid disappointment.

Love and hugs, it's a jad time. Xxx

It’s through a private clinic- I don’t have any of the symptoms of PCOS so I have looked on google and it says I could just have a high reserve for my age so hoping for that. Thanks for your replies x
