Is is possible to ovulate early and still get pregnant?

I am having an IUI cycle this month and have ov'd early - day 9 (usually it's between 11-13)- and had the IUI on the same day. The hospital tell me that this is fine and early ovulation won't hamper my chances of becoming pregnant but I have read that early ov'ing is not really desirable and the chances of becoming pregnant are slimmer because the egg is not so well developed.

Does anyone know?

Erm, I'm no expert but I ovulated (and conceived) very early (between days 7-11) when my first baby was only 6 months old. Now I have a second baby.
