How many dpo for your positive & how many cycles at 40

We are a few months in to TTC our second at 40 yo and just wondering how many cycles it took ppl at this age (I know everyone is different but just to see) and how many DPO did u get ur BFP?
roughly 11 dpo here and bfn this morning, thinking im prob out again this month :(

I took me 1 cycle.
I had a weird feeling so I tested around when my was period is due so 14 or 15 days I guess?

I’m 33, almost 34 and we are on month 6 TTC our second (it happened in the first month for our first so was expecting it to happen as quick as last time… How naive of me! 🙃) I guess it all just depends! Good luck with TTC x

I’m going into my late 30s and have been trying since August 2025. Got pregnant first cycle but sadly it was a chemical. Not a sniff of a positive since. Hoping to get one soon but it’s starting to upset me.

20 cycles (started trying again when I was 39) it was a bit of a shock and worry after falling pregnant accidentally when I was 37. I got my BFP at 12 DPO

@sunshinecitrus1 similar we got pregnant on first cycle our first time ttc but it ended in MMC, then first time trying again after and that little line is now 2 🥰 I deff thought (naively) or hoped it would be similar this time!

@JH20000 sorry to hear abt ur chemical, where are u in ur cycle now?

@Lauren0902 in a way isn’t it lovely to catch us by surprise when all is ok, im sure u wouldn’t change that for the world now 🥰 20 cycles is hard going thou, how do u motivate urself to keep going? We are ttc since sept and feeling so tough, I dunno why this month feels harder

In all honesty our motivation started to disappear around the year mark and our sex life turned abysmal, my other half started to struggle with the pressure of me shouting from the bathroom that I was ovulating and then having to perform. Funnily enough the month after we stopped trying and started enjoying ourselves again was when we conceived! I found hearing others pregnancy news kept me going - I never felt negatively towards them or envy.

In hindsight it happened at a much better timing to when we had originally planned

I am 40 and currently going through ivf. I have done 1 embryo transfer with an embryo from a 2021 cycle which ended in a chemical. Last year I did 2 egg retrievals and 2 transfers, 1 didnt work and 1 was a mc at 7 weeks. This year im going for another egg retrieval so hoping I get embryos and one isna sticky bean. We have also had 6 cancelled cycles last year so id say we have tried for 9 cycles.

I’m not sure where I am in my cycle as I’ve not been tracking as it was becoming too stressful. I think I’ve ovulated the last couple days though so fingers crossed! When I started TTC I went mad with tracking etc etc but it got to a point where it was making me anxious so stopped.

I’m not 40 but first positive was 13dpo
11 dpo was undeniably white and negative
12dpo didn’t test
13dpo so faint I’d barely believe it unless I got more positives later xx

@JH20000 I think we are buddies - we started TTC last Aug and got pregnant first cycle properly trying! However we had a missed miscarriage which was discovered in October and treated with surgical management in early November. I've had three "proper" cycles since my period came back (waited for that until we tried again) and so far nothing.....

I started IVF at 39 and went through three egg retrieval cycles. My first two embryo transfers both resulted in early miscarriages. Because of my age and concerns about declining egg quality, I decided to do cycles two and three back-to-back to avoid losing time. I eventually had a successful transfer on my third attempt, using an embryo from my second retrieval, and that resulted in my baby.

I know people who had success at the very first attempt (same age or older as me) and I know people who tried for many more cycles than I with no success.

Ultimately, we were told that in our case (relative good egg reserve for my age and no know issues with me or my partner) the odds are 14% chance per egg transfer.

Also I am sorry, I thought the question was about IVF. Naturally, we tried for a year with not a single positive test. Started trying at 38.

I’m 41 now, 40 when we started trying. Partner same age.
Took 5 cycles and BFP was on a cycle where I stopped tracking, but we only had sex 8 days and 10 days beforehand. So I assumed I was 10dpo.

I had 3 chemical pregnancies out of the other 4 months, and the BFP came around 12dpo and didn’t get much darker before I started bleeding.

Previous children were 2 or 3rd cycle on 9dpo for the first, and 4th cycle for the second.
