TW - talk of ectopic

Any nutrition knowledgable peeps in here?

I’m 40 and sadly currently being treated with methotrexate for my first pregnancy which is heartbreakingly ectopic 😭 my numbers are going down but it’s a slow, horrible, process and I gather leaves you absolutely depleted of folate and b12.

This was an unexpected but very wanted pregnancy when we got the news, and it’s opened up a whole conversation with me and my partner about us wanting to try and get pregnant after the 3 month wait we need to do……

Once im allowed to be on supplements again and replenish all my levels I’m looking for the BEST supplement to maximise chances of conception…..does anyone have any recommendations?

Based in UK but happy to purchase from elsewhere online if necessary. Thankyou x

I was recommended Ovum.

Hi there. I went through the same last year. I’m very sorry- I know it’s horrible.

When I spoke to the midwife team about supplements, they really just recommended Pregnacare or similar. They said to me that the important thing is the daily folic acid to get your levels of that back up, but that aside from that, there was nothing special I needed to take or worry about. I haven’t heard about anything else more particular but will follow this thread with interest.

Might you know if you have an MTFHR gene mutation (which is not uncommon) in which case it’s best not to take folic acid and it’s best to take methylfolate instead? I have a common mutation that 20% of people have and I take Solgar Folate and Solgar Methylcobalmin. (Post-TTC, just on everyday basis). I found out when I did a 23andme test, but when I googled just now, a test on healthily.co.uk is also a possibility, and probably some others. It’s not bad to know as with certain mutations taking folic acid is really unhelpful if I understand correctly.
