3dpo here we go. Not feeling hopeful

Only DTD day on OPK peak day this month in the window.
I know technically that's enough but I don't feel very hopeful.
Since trying for this baby for coming up to 2 years I was getting pregnant quickly, three times I lost them before 9 weeks.
Just weren't progressing properly and then heartbeat stopped every time.
No reasons found
Would like one last pregnancy try before I give up but not fallen since June now. One or two possible chemicals where i saw very faint lines

Anyway. Long story short, in the TWW now and will be testing insanely in a few days as usual.

Hi, I just wanted to say I’m so sorry for your losses. And also the month I got pregnant with my son 7 years ago we only DTD once, had been trying for months and DTD every day or every other day in the fertile window but the month I got my positive was the month we’d only DTD once. So I hope it’s the same for you. Sending lots of luck to you! I’m 5DPO today, the wait kills me!

PennyPencils · 02/02/2026 07:55

Hi @ClaireF992 and thanks so much for replying. So I'm 4dpo today. We are in the same boat there.
That's good to hear, thank you. I'm glad it was on a good day, probably the best day being day before ovulation.
Wait and see time.
Good luck to you too. How long have you been trying this time?

OP posts:
ClaireF992 · 02/02/2026 09:37

Yes you absolutely couldn’t have timed it better! Only a few months this time so far, I had an early miscarriage last year which stopped me for a while then my dad got ill and the timing wasn’t right. So this will be my 3rd month properly trying again. I’ve just turned 37 and like I said my first was at 30 so not sure if that’s going to make things a bit more difficult. Are you trying for your first?

PennyPencils · 02/02/2026 13:57

@ClaireF992 oh sorry to hear that. Not an easy time for you.
I have a three year old and a 19 year old!
The three yo took two years to conceive and i was the right side of 40 then

@ClaireF992 so you are 7dpo now? How are you doing? Any signs?

@ClaireF992 so you are 7dpo now? How are you doing? Any signs?

I woke up with an aching lower back yesterday with cramps, which is unusual for me they went. And I’ve been really hungry, but I’m always like that on the run up to my period anyway.

How about you? Time is sooooo slow on the TWW isn’t it! I’m in work all day today and tomorrow from 7am -8pm so at least it keeps me busy.

PennyPencils · 04/02/2026 19:43

@ClaireF992 keeping busy is the key! In the huge amount of time I've been TTC I've found symptoms that mean nothing and some that have meant I was pregnant. I honestly can't tell the difference any more
I always have some nausea in the TWW, tiredness and boob pains.
Right now not a lot happening so like you, will keep busy and try not to early test.
Good luck 🤞🏻

Oooh very similar to me then, I am also the wrong side of 40, and been trying since June with one or two very faint positives in that time which turned out to be nothing. I haven’t had any miscarriages and I’m ever so sorry that you have.
I have a 2.5 year old conceived when we weren’t trying so I naively didn’t anticipate any problems this time. I am (more) overweight this time which I’m attempting to get a handle on. I’ve also started acupuncture and a gentle yoga just incase I’m unknowingly stressed. The stats seem stacked against us. Let’s hope we all defy them!

PennyPencils · 05/02/2026 09:02

@overwork hi! It's nice to have this contact with others to be going through it. Thank you for your kind words.
Miscarriages were hard but if it's not developed properly there's nothing to mourn as such so onwards to the next try is my mantra, but, it's getting a bit harder as I feel I'm running out of time now.
I also do yoga and the odd Joe wicks light hiit workout (one or two a week) as I am a bit heavier than I'd like bit not far off.
I've got an appointment with a really good gynea next week so if I'm not pregnant this month, which I expect is the case, then I'll see what we can review to see where I am and why I was falling pregnant so easily last year and now nothing for so long.
Where are you in your cycle this month?

OP posts:
overwork · 05/02/2026 11:03

Cycle day 23. I’ve always had cycles on the short side, 25/26 days, but I’ve had 3 in the last 6 months that have only been 22 days, so I’m quite excited to make it this far this month! I’ve been trying to track things less, so not sure of exact ovulation, but I tested yesterday at what I predict to be 10 DPO and it was stark white. So I’m expecting my next cycle to start any day now.
My BMI is 32 and I’ve seen that most IVF clinics prefer 25, 30 at a push. So if it’s more difficult to sustain an IVF pregnancy it must also be more difficult to sustain a spontaneous pregnancy so I have finally accepted that I need to make changes in that area.
I did a glorious yin yoga class this week which won’t make me fitter but certainly helped stretch away some aches and pains!
Do you mind me asking if you’ve paid for your gynae consultation?

PennyPencils · 05/02/2026 11:16

I don't mind at all. I live in France and it's covered by my health insurance. Im actually going for a routine uterus cancer screening but mentioned to the receptionist at the hospital that I'd like to review due to TTC and miscarriages and she said that's fine. Was easier than I thought actually.

My cycles were 32 days but are now about 30 and I've had the odd 28 dayer so I know with age, things are changing.

I try do do what I can but we won't do IVF and having been TTC for a long time I cant live like a nun so before ovulation I'll have the rare glass of wine with dinner and I try not to have too much sugar but I love chocolate so I don't keep to that too well. On the whole we eat well and we are in the countryside so nice fresh air and a calm life on the whole. I personally can't do any more and the rest will be luck of getting good timing with a good egg. What will be will be.

Hi everyone! I think I'm similar dpo to everyone here!
I'm not entirely sure when I ovulated but my cycle has been 28/29 recently so I'm on day 22 at the moment so I'm assuming I'm about 7dpo

overwork · 05/02/2026 17:43

It’s hard isn’t it, everywhere I look screams that I have no chance now and move to IVF immediately. But I don’t want to inject myself with drugs and have all the palaver that goes with it. I think I’m accepting of the fact that not having IVF means that we’ll probably only have one, but I do have a year or so before the door is closed on that one too.
I hope that your gynae holds some answers. I asked as I feel that I need to speak to someone now but I can’t work out who. I know a fertility clinic would push towards IVF. GP isn’t interested. I would like to check to see if there is a structural issue but I’m not sure where to turn. Each cycle brings that tiny glimmer of hope and obviously is swiftly followed by no hope. For now we’ll keep trying! @PennyPencilsHi @mangomama91!

PennyPencils · 05/02/2026 19:21

@overwork I'm not sure they would necessarily push for IVF. My friend had been TTC three years and was given clomid for some months and another similar medication towards the end (she gave up in the end sadly) another step would have been insemination at a clinic i think, I forget what it's called but they put the sperm exactly where it needs to go and I've seen on mumsnet people having good reaults from that. My DH wouldn't do that so I haven't looked into it for us. Might be worth having a call with a clinic to enquire?

Hi @mangomama91 so we are all around the same DPO. Maybe one or more of us will have success soon.

mangomama91 · 07/02/2026 16:52

I was impatient this morning and took a first response test, was negative but I probably took it too early anyway so still feeling hopeful 🤞

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

PennyPencils · 07/02/2026 19:17

@mangomama91 I don't think it's too early, we are 10dpo now if I've worked that out right?
People do get bfps later for sure. Good to feel positive.
I feel like if I didn't have a tiny hint of a line today on the sensitive cheapies then it would be miraculous to have anything now but I'm ok. Focusing on the gynea appointment next week and hope something comes of that.

@mangomama91 ah no we are 9dpo. I was getting ahead of myself
