trying for a girl, is it true you shouldn't have sex too close to ov?

has anyone actually got pregnant having sex well before ovulation? I'm a bit sceptical, does the sperm really hang around in there for long enough to fertilise? any experiences welcome. Done it on day 11, think I usually ov on day 13-14, holding off doing it again as would like a girl (have 1 DS)...

scaryhairy i heard that if you diet before getting preggers you increase chances of girl where if you eat well like fatty foods you have a boy. i am a healthy eater (limited diet) and i am having a girl! os maybe theory is correct!

also boys live longer yet are slower swimmers so i think you conceive a girl closer to ovulation.

I've always got pg on day 12 and got pg (1 DS, 2 m/c), fairly sure I ovulate day 13, this time just did it a bit too early probably, so fingers crossed. Of course it would be great to have another DS and not being ungrateful but would like a daughter! Oh well. If it didn't work this month, will do it on day 12 and 13 next month and just see what happens..
