Being referred to fertility clinic - what investigations will they do??

particularly on first appointment.
Prob will have to take DS aged 2 - will I be there AGES or will a brief history of what's been going on be asked, then more 'invasive' stuff on 2nd & further appointments?

Feel fed up things at this point but glad been referred (am 34 & ttc 7 months for dc # 2)

(having CD3 bloods taken prior to going so that should help them a bit......)

I cant speak from personal experience as i have not yet been referred but i know when my friend went she was there a while, they took blood some viginal swabs, her period/pregnancy history and went thought their plan of action which in her case was send her away for 3 months with instruction to have cd21 bloods done each month, Her dr had done her day 3 and it wasnt repeated by the specialist. She didnt have to go back, she got her BFP yesterday

I am awaiting a referal too but my dr is feckign useless.

her df had to do 2 semen samples too, a month apart

I think it depends on your clinic. FWIW here's my experience.

First appointment was with a fertility nurse who took history, asked lots of questions and scheduled tests (or told me at what point to ring and book them). I had to have HSG, blood tests (I had had them done at GP previously but they repeated them, although had been a while since I'd had them done) and should have had another ultra sound but nurse said I didn't need to as had had one done previous year. DH had to do semen analysis (not then and there). I didn't take dd - could have done in terms of tests but was easier not to as lots of questions etc.

I took dd to blood tests which she found fascinating. Obv, not to HSG. First consultant appointment was just talking too so could have taken dd but would have been distracting.

My letter with my appointment on it told me I might have an internal but I didn't.

I would say, if you can avoid it, don't take DS. If your DH/P is going then that would be ok because if you needed anything done he could always take him out.

First appt was very brief as the tests they do have to be on certain days in your cycle.
