Cycle 2 of letrozole and feeling bummed

TTC2021PCOS · 16/10/2025 20:53

We have been ttc for 4 years this december, I have PCOS, we have had a failed round of IVF already (embryos were made but failed to implant when transferred) but drs have suggested trying letrozole for 6 months before trying IVF again.

I am on cycle 2 and feeling so bummed, I am 10dpo and have just started the usual pre period spotting I always get. I know it is only cycle 2....and it isnt a garantee that it will even work but I guess I just stupidly got my hopes up!

Why is it so hard for my body to do something that should be so natural...😢

Sending you hugs. 4 years is a long time ttc. My heart goes out to you lovely. What was their rationale for the letrozole? Keep going. It’s worth trying before IVF again.

TTC2021PCOS · 16/10/2025 21:04

Thank you @PeonyPatch it is tough! Especially when everyone around you is having babies 😢

I have late/weak ovulation so they thought the letrozole will help to bring ovulation forward and prehaps better quality ovulation. And it has brought it forward by 7 days (I think) which I guess is a good thing. I am checking this by taking my bbt along with opk's and had a progesterone test early this week which I am waiting on the results for so will definitely know from that

Its hard when everyone says.... keep trying, youll get there, have more s*x, try to stress less. Sometimes feel like saying please...just be quiet haha

I feel you completely. Friends and others having babies and getting pregnant, seemingly quickly and with ease. It’s frustrating and upsetting. Devastating even I’d say. It’s hard to be happy for them when it’s what you want so badly!

We are on cycle 8, but I got diagnosed with PCOS. I think like you there’s something going on with my ovulation. My periods have regulated a bit since I’ve started taking metformin. But we both don’t really know when my ovulation is, it’s quite difficult to catch the window.

Well, I’m really hoping it works out for you. Keep going, stay strong.

I know how you feel about the advice to stop stressing and keep having sex, lol. It’s very annoying. I feel like I’m going off sex I have it so much!! We just bought a lubricant that’s supposed to help with conception not sure if that’s much use to you too. I’m also taking wild nutrition fertility supplements the duo with omega 3.

sisterdaughter · 16/10/2025 22:09

Aw pal, I’m at 4 years in December too. Different end of the issue spectrum in that we can’t make good embryos. It is so glum. I started pushing my family away the last few months as it’s just gotten so difficult and they’ve no way to comprehend what it’s like (not time to do so becuase they all have children/grandchildren. I love my nieces but I wish I was a mother.

all I can say (for myself) is that I will keep trying, I’ll only ever regret having not tried everything. And trying to believe there’ll be better times either which way. Wishing you all the best.

Omg...could this be?? I just keep staring....is that a line? Is that an evap line? It looks pinkish to me....do you see it?

I feel so heavy today as my period is coming....12dpo temp spiked up again this morning which made me after dropping past 2 days....and ive had the usual ore period spotting.

I dont want to get my hopes up...

I do see a very faint line! X

TTC2021PCOS · 18/10/2025 09:29

But I am cramping like period is here 😢

It looks more pinky in real life...but am not getting my hopes up.

Stay hopeful but realistic lovely. I’m with you! I am also due on in the next 6 days and I had tender breasts last night, so it’s feeling like AF is due. I don’t know what an early pregnancy symptom or implantation would even feel like tbh. Check back in a couple days!

TTC2021PCOS · 18/10/2025 09:36

Thank you! Me neither to be honest. Ive never had anything on a test other than stark white...not even a glimpse.

I will order some more and try again in a couple of days 😢

OP posts:
sisterdaughter · 18/10/2025 10:11

Oh wow @TTC2021PCOS i do see a line! Funnily enough, I’ve gotten a line in the last few days (ivf)! My line has been progressing, not like, blazing progression but steadily getting darker. And I’ve had cramps since yesterday, sort of background and not severe but definitely there. As far as I know, cramps alongside a positive test and without blood are regarded as normal implantation burrowing.

are your tests sensitive ones or ordinary ones? Mine are not sensitive, and are quite faint. I then took a sensitive one and it’s rather dark.

sisterdaughter · 18/10/2025 10:16

Whatever happens, this is excellent news. It shows that the medication has very quickly made a difference—four years of nothing then second month of meds and you’ve made a blastocyst capable of implanting, and your body is supporting it.

TTC2021PCOS · 18/10/2025 10:36

@sisterdaughter I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! IVF is a tough journey dull of emotional rollercoasters! Have they told you to test or do you have to go in for bloods? I avoided all testing as they wanted bloods done...it failed and was heart wrenching.

I think they are sensitive but not the super sensitive if that makes sense 😂

I had awful cramps just after the test, as though my period was going to come right there and then but they have now subsided. Just feeling slightly heavy.

I have ordered some conceive plus early detections so will try again in a couple of days.

I am scared not going to lie....do not want to get my hopes up

OP posts:
sisterdaughter · 18/10/2025 12:06

I mean I absolutely recommend not getting hopes up but not because of your test strength, just… self preservation. Then you can be pleasantly surprised at every positive bit of news. For now, I’d focus on the fact that you've now come further than ever before! One small step, a giant leap!

i don’t know the brand you’ve mentioned, I just rely on boots tests, they have early detection ones that have served me well in the past.

I keep having bad luck things happen to me (train to London just cancelled, wheel broke on my suitcase, got bird poo’d on) which I’m thinking will hopefully all add up to good luck! Magical thinking hah.

TTC2021PCOS · 18/10/2025 13:45

I think it was a false as i am stil spotting....pinkish cm which is what I usually get a couple of days before period starts. Along with this morning cramps....I think it was a faulty test 😢

Conceive plus usually do supplements etc but saw them on amazon so thought id try as they were relatively cheap and didnt want to waste money on expensive ones although I do have a CB digital in the drawer. But I want to use that when I am sure 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh no! What a day! But superstition says....bird pooping on you is good luck!! 😂

OP posts:
sisterdaughter · 19/10/2025 08:40

I saw on another thread that the strong cramps went away? I'm hoping for you...

PlummyDog · 19/10/2025 08:56

Could cramps be implantation and blood be an implantation bleed?

TTC2021PCOS · 19/10/2025 12:54

I just did another....the line came up straight away 😳 but still faint....

Is it darker than yesterday? Was expecting a stark white 🤦🏻‍♀️

what dpo are you today? its def positive!! it looks stronger than the other, but they're different brands, so that's not something to judge by. I can imagine how nervous/excited you're feeling!

TTC2021PCOS · 19/10/2025 18:28

I am 13dpo, hopefully i get a darker line tomorrow 🤞🏼 and I am going to do a digital.

I am more nervous I think 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ maybe a little shocked. I havent said anything to my partner as I don't want to give false hope 😢

Hehe yayyy! I’m only 2 days ahead of you and was gonna say my 13dpo looks the same as yours in strength (not a sensitive test) and looks the same as people’s online (same brand as mine). Also I got 1-2 weeks at 13 dpo too!! Can’t believe we’ve both been ttc same amount of time, starting December and are two days apart. So happy for you :)

PlummyDog · 19/10/2025 22:13

Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

TTC2021PCOS · 20/10/2025 17:09

@sisterdaughter haha that is so weird, we are in sync haha! Thank you, so pleased for you too!

Thank you everyone 🫶🏽

Going to do another test at the weekend as advised by doctors - praying it is a sticky one 🤞🏼🙏🏽
