Hi, just wondering if anyone has been though anything similar
I had a normal 5 day period starting 3rd September, normal heavy bleeding cramps and clots, nothing out of the ordinary!
ive felt tired constipated and struggled to sleep for the past 3 weeks - something I experienced in my pregnancy with my son, but as I had a very normal period didn’t think anything of it!
the past few days I’ve been spotting which is abnormal for me inbetween periods and feeling quite dizzy, currently cd18, decided to take a test just to rule out pregnancy after a google search, and I was completely shocked when it was positive! I normally ovulate around CD14 so I’m assuming I was pregnant last month, but I had such a normal heavy period -
i plan on calling the GP first thing in the morning for some blood tests etc but I just feel so anxious tonight!
any one had anything similar?

Yep me! Had a very normal period for me (they’re not too heavy or painful generally but it was normal heaviness etc etc). Lasted for ages, put it down to the fact that periods weren’t long back after last baby. After a couple of weeks of period type bleeding thought something was up, tested just to rule it out - nearly fell over with shock with it came back positive! 31 weeks now and baby seems totally happy and healthy - on the countdown to arrival! Hope all works out OP, I’d probably get in touch with EPU for an early scan or pay for a private one if you can, just to make sure all is ok - but I’m proof it can work out!

Yes me with my first full term pregnancy. I was only young but I had a very, very heavy and painful period, I ended up at hospital for pain meds and fluids and I was sick and went on maxalon. The bleeding eventually stopped but not the sickness, that got so bad that the maxalon wasnt helping. 1 week later a friend of mine at the time when I was visiting gave me a pregnancy test to take home and do if I wanted. My partner at the time went out to get pizza and dessert and I thought id do the test for shits and giggles. Instantly the line was darker then the control line. My partner took me to the doctors thr very next day for tests and a scan because of the bleeding and it turned out I was 9 weeks pregnant. I would have been just over 7 weeks along when the bleeding started . I did go on to have a lot of struggles throughout the pregnancy but she came naturally at 40+1 and is now 22yrs old.

If your period started 3rd September then you’re cd26 today. Most women’s cycles are 21-35 days so it’s a normal time to either expect your period or have a positive pregnancy test.

@Rosygoldapplesorry I meant the 10th sept not 3rd! And my one before that was the 14th August

@LotsOfSmallThings@Miraclemuma03
thank you both for replying! I’ve had more spotting today and went to the GP, they sent to the hospital for bloods and got a scan booked for Wednesday as they were worrying about ectopic due the bleed I thought was a period

Let us know how you go. Hopefully the spotting is nothing to worry about.

@Miraclemuma03thank you
i had a scan on Wednesday which did have a heart beat and dated me as 5+4, but they said it’s behind what I should be and as I have ongoing spotting and cramps said it’s a threatened miscarriage, they told me to just call the early pregnancy unit back if I fill a pad basically and that was it,
still have spotting and cramps now with small brown clots, feel quite confused and unsure really just waiting to see what happens over the next few weeks

Thats heartbreaking. Im so sorry. How far along are you meant to be or think you should be?

Harriet669 · 04/10/2025 10:26

Based on me periods they said on Wednesday I should have been 7 weeks, but measured at 5+4 and said it was very small
I wish I’d asked more questions but I was on my own as had no one to have my little boy so my husband had to and kids aren’t alone, and just felt overwhelmed. I’m just thinking the worst I think as the cramps and bleeding don’t feel positive - I just feel a bit lost with it, having to carry on as normal etc

Its very hard to hear that things arnt going in the direction your hoping for. Do you go back for updated scans?
