Help 🙈 Do I need early scan or can I go by my dates

Basically I have had a positive pregnancy test and unsure if I need to contact doctors.
I came off desogestrel pill at the start of May. I had no bleeding whatsoever until 27th June, I then bled for a couple days max. And have just gotten a positive result on a test yesterday. Period isn’t due for about 4 days so surprised as line was relatively clear (not a squinter) I don’t know if I can go by my last bleed dates or if I could be all over the place 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

The nhs won’t use the dating from a private scan. They will book a scan based on your last bleed and the dating will be done then.

@Hodgemollaroh no sorry I do already know that. Just wanted to know if I can definitely count the bleed I had as a period. Don’t want to end up 15 weeks instead of 12 at my dating scan and miss tests etc 🤣 or if I was better contacting the doctors early. (Don’t want to time waste)

I assume you had no bleeds on the pill? I'd just register with GP as having no clear period since coming off the pill. You can ovulate straight away, can take months to restabilise.

Early scans can be more worrying than reassuring, especially if not sure on dates.

Don’t worry that you’re time wasting. It’s not worth missing the screening tests. I would book the pregnancy straight away and tell the midwives you could be anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 weeks pregnant or whatever it is. Hopefully they will scan you a bit sooner.

An early scan could be helpful, as long as you bear in mind it could go a number of ways.

Thank you for all your advice!
I have had mainly regular bleeds on the pill until I stopped taking it.
in regards to early scans I had one with previous pregnancy due to bleeding so aware they can potentially cause stress.
I didn’t even think of clear blue weeks test, so I will do that and then contact the doctors depending on results. Thank you all very helpful!

I went for a scan due to bleeding at 7 weeks. They told me to take a test beforehand and I panicked it was lighter than previously when I'd been about 4 weeks.

Wise mumsnetters told me about the hook effect and when I diluted my pee (I mean by a lot!) my line got stronger. So if you wanted to could try a cheap test on your normal pee, then another a bit diluted and again more diluted. If it's getting stronger you're probably nearer 8 weeks, if weaker probably nearer 4 but obviously not foolproof.
