What are the chances of being pregnant - 1 test stick left.

I am in my second cycle since my MC in March. I was always 27 - 29 days regularly, even after first MC I went straight into my regualr cycle. This time it has been different. My first cycle after MC was 33 days and tody I am cd31. I always get sore chest just before my af, but I have nothing at the moment.

I just have one test stick left from a set of 5 from the internet. (I have not bought any more as I can not buy them very easily here in Spain and they are very expensive.

I am really confused as I am not sure if I have even OV'd this month either.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do. Should I risk using my last test stick or wait. It is possible to be pregnant without any sore chest of any other symptoms of pregancy.

Thank you.

I would wait at least until day 35, as it can take a couple of cycles before your cycle gets back to normal.

Singingintherain · 27/05/2008 14:16

Hi, I am just surprised that I went straight back into my regular cycles last mc, but this time the first one took longer and there is no sign of this month's af.

I suppose worrying is not helping either.

OP posts:
belgo · 27/05/2008 14:28

No worrying doens't help - easier said then done I know!

Squack · 27/05/2008 14:37

Leave it a week.

If you get your period then you didn't waste a test and if you are pg then you still will be in a weeks time.

In a week the test should be nice and strong and clear.
Even if you get a faint positive now, you'll only have to get another test to make sure lol.

good luck!

Singingintherain · 28/05/2008 07:55

Now cd32 and still no signs. I was actually tempted to use the test, but when I went to look for it, it was not there. I can not find it, so it could be a sign not to test just yet. I am wondering if it was thrown away by accident when I cleaned out the bathroom.

I just keep working out my dates. I always seemed to OV around day 17. I did see a little cm on cd23, but not sure if it was. This is normally 10 days before af is due. So I could mean that I am due af on CD33, tomorrow, but I always have really clear signs that af is due within the week, but still nothing. I am very doubtful that I am pregnant now.

Based on this information, does anyone have any ideas when it is best to test. I am trying to get hold of some test sticks from internet. I am just hoping they arrive soon.

OP posts:
belgo · 28/05/2008 08:04

hello again! Based on possible ovulation on cd23, I would wait 14 days after that - so day 37. The pregnancy tests might not arrive until then anyway!

Singingintherain · 28/05/2008 08:07

Thank you belgo.

Seems logical. Possibly then, within the next 5 days I might start with some signs of sore chest etc.

Just thinking that this makes the cycle much longer than ever before, with the possibility that I did not actually OV this month.

Well, can kepp trying.

OP posts:
Singingintherain · 28/05/2008 08:08

kepp keep, sorry

OP posts:
belgo · 28/05/2008 08:11

It is quite normal for your cycle to be longer then normal after a m/c. Also if you are stressed out about it, this may delay ovulation.

Singingintherain · 28/05/2008 08:18

It is strange what a little extra worrying can do to your stress levels.

I am sure that I have been more determined than ever to conceive this month. I know my DH has noticed how much. He has told me the stress is making it difficult for him too.

I think that when you have been so regular, like clockwork and then everything changes and you are not ready or expecting it, it can be worrying.

I just wish that TTC was as easy as it was for my other 2dd's Both were conceived in first cycle without even having to think about it. No opk's, temping or making any observations. Strange, but I suppose, when you want something more it is always the same.

belgo · 28/05/2008 08:27

I was in a similar position to you just a few months ago, I also concieved my two dds with no significant problems. Then I had two m/cs, both of which took longer to concieve in the first place.

But just as dh and I were at our lowest point, we went on holiday, concieved and now I'm five months pregnant.

Miscarriages are unfortunately very common, most of my friends who are in their thirties have had miscarriages but it's not always a sign of a major problem.

My cycle was always a little bit unpredictable - between 28 and 35 days - but I think that's still within the normal range. But I steered clear of temping and OPKs because I didn't want TTC to become a scientific procedure, and as I had concieved my first two babies without a problem, I knew the chances were very high that I was still fertile. It's probably the same for you too - you have two children, and that's a very good sign that you will have another child.

But you have to stay hopeful, try not to feel the pressure, have sex when you and dh want to have sex and try and keep it fun.

Just started with the most terrible period style cramps. Now convinced AF is on its way. Did have them before on implantation, but did have other pregnancy symptoms at the same time.

Looks like I won't need my test after all this month. But, fingers crossed just in case.

Do you know if it would be worth testing at this point anyway if AF is due and having cramps, just in case it could be implantation.

Squack · 28/05/2008 14:34

I t depends on whether you ae due. wait until you are late then poas.

Of course if it were me I'd pee on it now

Singingintherain · 28/05/2008 16:25

Just going to try to get some more sticks from internet. The trouble is I am afraid they will not come in time and I will end up worrying waiting for them and go and try to get some here.

DH says he is going to ask at Doctors for me, what they do about testing. Probably will have to make an appointment to speak to him. Worth a go though. I tried to have a look in pharmacy, but they are not in English, so will need to find out how to use them if they are different from English brands.

Anyway, still can not find last stick. I still believe this is fate and I am not meant to test yet.

OP posts:
belgo · 28/05/2008 16:29

I always found a negetive test almost soul destroying. I would much rather that my period turned up as a way of not knowing I was pregnant - at least then I was into the next cycle and there was hope then for the next cycle.

I also live in a country where pregnancy tests are expensive! Please try and wait, you'll feel better for it.

Singingintherain · 29/05/2008 08:49

Hi belgo, where are you from? It is good that at least I have contact with others like myself. I really need the support that I get from here.

It is hard for me to even see a Doctor. None of them speak English and I end up using the medical insurance company I have for them to find me somebody to help. I have records in all different places and I never see the same person twice.

Well today is CD33, the longest cycle I have ever had, cramps are worse than ever and can not stop going to the bathroom. But I have not give up hope yet. I went through all my bathroom and found the last stick, but have decided not to use it until some more arrive.

My DH has tried for me but it looks like I will have to get them myself and ask someone to translate how to use it. Unless the Doctor will do it for me.

Squack · 29/05/2008 08:57

POAS!

If this is late for you and no AF then go poas and report back

Singingintherain · 29/05/2008 09:08

The only stick I have is 10??? something or other. Is this the correct type of stick for an early detection. I know that some other are higher. I read that you can test with 10's as much as 3 days after conception.

What do you think?

OP posts:
Singingintherain · 29/05/2008 09:11

I am really going to struggle using it at the moment. When I use the bathroom I hardly go , but have to go every hour as though I am desperate.

I am not sure if there will be enough and if it will be strong enough to give a good result. As this is my last stick before I can get hold of any more, I am really worried about getting a negative and wanting to try to test again before any arrive.

Sorry if too much information.

OP posts:
Squack · 29/05/2008 09:55

nothing will show up 3 days after conception lol

maybe 3 days before your period is due.

10 is the units of hcg it will detect a positive at, which is one of the early testing types of hpt.

I would pee in a cup the next time you go to the toilet. If it looks like strong yellow coloured wee then you could test. If it's pale then don't.

first morning wee is best if testing early. Anytime wee if you're late and pg should detect the hcg.

Good luck!

belgo · 29/05/2008 09:57

Hi - do you think you've got a urinary tract infection? - that could be causing you to wee often, and the difficulty in weeing, and it could also be causing your cramps. Drink plenty of water.

And for the pregnancy test - only use the strongest morning wee- collect it in a clean pot if necessary.

Do the doctors really not speak much english? You really need to find a doctor that you can rely on, especially if you are pregnant.

I live in Belgium, but I learnt flemish when I got here 6 years ago so have never had problems seeing a doctor.

Singingintherain · 29/05/2008 10:22

Just decided to go and use it. The result is not very clear. I looked at it and the first pink line came immediately. But nothing else. I waited the maximum 10 minutes and had a look again inthe sunlight. You can se a very very faint line but hardly anything. I compared it to my other result sticks and the line is in the same place when you hold them side by side.

I am unsure if this is really a positive or is it an evaporation line. I am not sure what one of them is either.

Going to have to go to Doctor I think.

OP posts:
belgo · 29/05/2008 10:26

SOunds like an evaporation line, a positive line should be seen faster then ten minutes. Yes go to the doctors if you can.

Singingintherain · 29/05/2008 10:31

Not sure.

My old one went purple when dry.

This on is still pink even now. Test was done 30 mins ago. The packet says do not go over 10 mins.

OP posts:
belgo · 29/05/2008 10:33

this is what I hate about pregnancy tests! They can give very ambigous results sometimes - they lead you to believe they are very accurate but in reality they aren't.
