Spotting at the end of a period

I use fertility friend and whenever I note my spotting days from cycle day 7 - 9/10 it says this is abnormal. I can't find any information on why spotting is abnormal. Does anyone know.

I have had theae spotty days for the last 10years. I am 39. I have had 8-10 day long periods since my late 20s but have managed to have 2 pregnancies pretty quickly. My 1st DC straight away and my 2nd took 3 cycles.

The one tid bit of information I could find mentioned hormonal issues / perimenapausal. But no further explanation.

Is spotting abobrmal / normal?

It sounds like it could be just your normal if its been over 10yrs and you had no issues conceiving. Are you ttc again? Sometimes it could mean low progesterone or not enough progesterone to support an embryo so in turn can cause fertility issues but that doesnt seem to be the case for you. Your period is probably just prolonged and shows itself as spotting. You definitely can talk to your gp and ask to run some tests and try to understand why you spot for so long after a period.

I’m not really much help but I get this too. Have done for several years and can’t think that it’s due to menopause as I’m early 30s (well I hope not). I think low progesterone causes spotting before period not after. I have asked GP before but never really got anywhere, I’ll follow along!

It is normal. I get spotting before my period and then after when it’s tapering off. I’ve had progesterone checked and all normal. My luteal phase has always been 14 days.

At the end of the period the amount of blood is lessened and the flow is slowing down, it makes perfect sense that the blood is turning into spotting. It’s not a light switch. :)

Thank you for your responses. I thought I was and odd one as all my friends and family members I have asked say they don't experince that. Most say they have 1 or 2 light days and then it stops within a day.

I have 2 friends who went through early menopause one was 25 the other was 32. They said they had a few years of spotting and less days of full in flow and in the end the period days were just spotting.
I will try and ask my Gp as I have never asked them about that bit before.

No judgement on age. I just turned 40 and currently going through ivf for another baby. Its so far not going well for me but am trying to stay positive. Good luck. But your spotting after a period seems normal, I also have prolonged spotting but usually also have heavier bleeds so takes a little longer I suppose to clear everything out. I am actually in perimenopaus and seems as though im heading through this stage quickly as its shown with my quality and quantity of eggs or lack of . Good luck and hope all goes well and you are pregnant sooner rather than later.
