Tips for TTC a boy - baby #4 , 3 girls

Hey all
me and my partner are going to TTC baby #4 soon. We currently have 3 girls. We are really hoping for a boy as this will be our last baby and we would love to experience having a boy. We will be delighted with another healthy girl but as this is our last shot, wondered from peoples experience if there’s any ways to increased our chances for a boy? Nothing drastic, just thought there was no harm in trying tried and tested tips.

I truly don’t think there is any way of deliberately getting one gender or the other. I have a daughter and currently nearly 6 months pregnant with a boy, we did exactly the same when ttc both pregnancies.

There is a theory that it depends on when in your cycle you have sex. Apparently male sperm are faster but die quicker whereas female sperm are slower but survive longer. If you have avoid having sex before you ovulate then the male sperm are in with a better chance.

I was never fussed about sex of my child to give it a go with my second, but a friend claims it worked for her. Equally, it could just be that it just so happened that her second was the sex she wanted.

If you google 'swaying' and TTC you'll find people who suggest various methods that they swear 'sways' them to boy or girl. Don't know too much about it, but something to do with how long girl / boy sperm live, how fast they swim and ovulation. I stumbled on a Reddit post about it a few years back and it made for some interesting reading!

I don't think you can influence it at all. My sil and brother kept trying and trying for a girl and have 6 boys lol. They did get a girl in the end (as did a friend of mine who ended up with 5 boys before their girl). You get what you get. 🤷‍♀️

Fingers crossed for you OP! But honestly I think crossing fingers is as effective a method as any.

I remember reading that you need to eat more potassium if ttc a boy so eat more bananas, potatoes etc.

I don't know about the truth of this one but when I was TTC, years ago, it worked for me. There was a theory that male sperm survived better in an acid environment (in the vagina), and female ones preferred an alkali environment. So I had lots of pickles, vinegar etc when I was TTC my son and ate yogurts, ice cream etc before getting pregnant with my daughter. Ironically my son loves his piccalilli and pickled onions and my daughter eats lots of ice cream and yogurts now.
