12DPO Usual period symptoms

Hubby and I have been trying for 2.5 years. Never had a positive pregnancy test in that time 💔 I'm now at 12DPO and have decided I'm going to test tomorrow morning as we're going to order some tests from ScreenMe to get the results in time for a Fertility phone consultation next month. I've pretty much convinced myself I'm not pregnant as I'm getting the usual symptoms that I get every month, but a part of me is still hoping it's early pregnancy instead 😭 Did anyone have their usual period symptoms and then get their BFP? My boobs are sore and I'm getting twinges and cramps, (which I get every month around 5 days before my period). I'm also tracking my BBT which will probably drop in a couple of days, but has been a bit steadier this month and even peaked at a higher temperature than I've recorded before. I just need to try and get through the next day 😫

Definitely me!!! I get mild af type cramps starting around 5-6dpo, and lasting until AF arrives, and I have that every single month to some degree, including on my BFP month. In hindsight they were perhaps slightly lighter than all my bfn months, however not that I noticed at the time, and my BFP month I was even crying in bed around 9dpo googling the exact same thing as you as I was convinced I couldn’t possibly feel the same and actually be pregnant! So you’re not out until AF shows!
Just as a side note I was TTc and tracking all my symptoms for 17m before getting my BFP, and I had about every symptom possible across those months, nausea, dizziness, constipation, upset tummy, brain fog, you name it, I had it and wondered and frantically googled whether this was my month - it never was! And my actual BFP month I had only my normal AF symptoms (mild cramps) and none of the other random ones! Im currently 14w+6 and have had barely any cramps since!! Good luck!!! Xxxx

It really does feel like your period is coming which is why I didn't bother to test.

SophieBearsMama · 10/07/2025 20:25

@IReallyLoveItHere @PoppyPeaches thank you so much for making me feel a bit more positive about it. I've got myself in a bit of a hole today and this has helped ❤️ the TTW sucks! Especially right at the end 😵‍💫

@SophieBearsMama how are you getting on today? Still having cramps etc? Xxx

SophieBearsMama · 11/07/2025 18:29

@PoppyPeaches thank you for checking in 🥰 not so crampy today, but still sore boobs. I did take a test this morning and was definitely negative, which I was fully expecting tbh, but still had a glimmer of hope inside 🌈 I ordered our microbiome/infection tests this morning and have also ordered for a thorough thyroid blood test. I also have to check my progesterone at the correct time to check whether or not I may need support with that....We saw someone privately a couple of weeks ago and she gave us a to do list to help us rule things out, but I was still hoping it would possibly happen this month 🙏 hopefully this help will get us on the right track 🤞🤰

I’m coming up to 2 years now so solidarity.
ive had cycles with no symptoms, cycles with all the symptoms, what I thought was textbook implantation pain followed by spotting…the lot! And it’s always been nothing so far.
I remember with my other pregnancies, I had period cramps like my period was about to start any minute.
some cycles I get spotting and some I don’t it’s literally different each month for me.
last cycle I was so bloated it was unbelievable and I thought maybe? But no.
my first baby took just under 3 years so I believe some babies just take that bit longer
good luck!

SophieBearsMama · 12/07/2025 06:47

@2025babyfever yes, I've had a number of months where I've "known" I was pregnant due to new, different, or no symptoms, but turned out I wasn't. So the women who say they "knew" they were pregnant are just very lucky. My husband has a couple of hopefully fixable issues and I'm a bit more complex as I have endometriosis. We're going to do everything we can over the next year or so to get a baby friendly environment. Couples that do this for years are real troopers. I'm not sure I can do it for much longer tbh.

I think if someone could just guarantee that it will happen 100% and we just have to be patient, things would be a lot easier. But it’s the worry that it might not that’s hard.
I’m usually ok through the month then at the end of my cycle when I start testing and getting bfn after bfn, I start getting down. Then a new cycle makes me feel hopeful again.

SophieBearsMama · 12/07/2025 09:15

@2025babyfever relate 100% 👏 I feel ok most of my cycles....even the first week past ovulation, but once it gets to around 10dpo mark, I start getting really restless and obsessing about everything! I'm usually really good re testing though. I try to wait for my period or day after it's due and it usually comes anyway. I prefer the period coming over the negative test.

@SophieBearsMama aww bless you, it is so so hard! ☹️ it sounds like you’ve got a good plan in place though - the microbiome tests were next on my list but thankfully didn’t need them! Have you had day 21 progesterone yet?
are you TTC your first? Xxx

SophieBearsMama · 13/07/2025 22:01

@PoppyPeaches I'm on 15DPO now and still negative, but no sign of flow showing either 🤷‍♀️ my temperature went up this morning as well. Am so confused 🤯 Yes, I had the progesterone blood test and they said it was fine, but the lady we saw also wants me to do another one which I'll also order online. We've got our microbiome tests, but I'm holding on a few more days in case we get a positive and they need returning 🤞 Yes, first and probably only after this. It's exhausting 😪
