TWW thoughts. Isn’t it weird that we don’t know immediately if we’ve conceived?

Random thoughts but surely a major design fault in the female form? 🤣
I’m 1DPO and just sat thinking that it’s either happened or it hasn’t, yet I’ll need to wait 10-14 days plus to find out either way! We had a missed miscarriage in May so I’m trying not to get my hopes up/stress but it’s difficult!!

At what point would you be expecting to know, though? Fertilisation? Implantation?

Runkle · 05/07/2025 22:39

I wish there was a way to know. Big toe turns purple or something!

chunkybear · 05/07/2025 22:49

It doesn't happen as soon as you have sex, fertilisation may take days, close to a week even! Then the cell rumbles down the fallipian tube, down the uterus until it buries itself in the wall of the uterus, this can be 10 days later!

I know, I’m just being dramatic and impatient haha. But if I have ovulated then the egg will probably be gone now or would have been met by a sperm, just wish it was a two hour wait rather than a two week wait 🤣

Crazy isn't it?

You could be sitting on the bus at the actual moment of conception.

I always think I'd like to know if I'm out. Like I understand there's a window where you aren't pregnant - it's implanting, that might fail etc etc. But if I've ovulated and the egg hasn't fertilised id like to know that as soon as possible rather than waiting to find out for sure! Wake up each morning and some internal timer goes off if you're out the game.

Something along the lines of the light being turned out on that dating show with Paddy mcguinnes!

I'm 1dpo going by dates. Im in two minds about ttc or not. But not knowing is torture. I'm the nosey sort and my imagination goes crazy. Would much rather know either way. Purple toe sounds good. Let's wait it out together and keep each other somewhat sane.

autismsixthsense · 07/07/2025 22:57

I always know. I put it down to my autism as I can feel when the slightest thing is different with my body. I even identified when I had an ectopic went straight to hospital and told them it was in my left tube as I could feel it - they scanned and said not likely as I ovulated the right side . A week later they saw it and I had to be treated . I’ve know every other time I was pregnant too it’s really strange it’s not so much a physical sensation more like my mind connects to something ‘different’

Mumofteenandtween · 07/07/2025 23:41

Little toe could turn purple when you ovulated. Then the next toe when sperm meets egg. Then the next two as it reaches certain points on in the fallopian tubes. And finally big toe when the fertilised egg implants.

That would be very convenient as you would know exactly what was going on when and if it wasn’t happening you would know why.

“Sperm meets egg just fine but it seems to get stuck halfway down my fallopian tubes.”

fireplaceember · 07/07/2025 23:48

I knew. No idea how. Was on the pill and used a condom, and after sex I just thought “fuck I’m pregnant”
the condom split but I took my pill at the exact same time every single day so no reason to think I was but I just knew
it was very weird!

Yes! So much waiting around and mental torture!

Yes please! I’m 4 DPO, I tested positive with my daughter at 8DPO which I know is early but makes me feel better thinking it’s possibly (although unlikely) only 4 more days haha
