I am new to TTC
I am a 37 year old who started trying in April this year.

I tested +VE on Monday and Wednesday after expierencing significant abdominal pain at work on Monday. On Monday I would have been around 9 DPO, some light spotting started on Tuesday and had a further +VE test on Wednesday. Was not feeling positive at all due to the spotting but my pregnancy symptoms were worsening and the spotting settled so was happier yesterday evening. (Day 26 of a 28 day cycle). I booked an early scan for ‘bleeding and pain’ for later in June expecting the worse.

This morning bleeding worsening / took another test and it remains positive (albeit not my first urine of the day so faint). Not particularly crampy but ongoing pregnancy symptoms.

TMI photo pictured (Sorry) -

One thing I will say is that I am very sensitive to bleeding in the context of progesterone - bled like this using implants, POP’s much to the disbelief of the sexual health consultants who always told me it would ‘settle down’, it never did - the only thing that worked for me is the IUS and even then I would get spotting.

Has anyone ever had bleeding this like in ‘early pregnancy’ / ‘implantation’ or should I accept that this is a chemical pregnancy and non-viable? I doubt its a regular period as HCG has been picked up now on four seperate tests (and brands!) prior to my expected period.

Any help or advice please

hi,

with you being around 4 weeks based on your last menstrual period, it would be difficult to see anything on a scan. You need to be around 5-6 weeks to see a gestational sac and 6 weeks for fetal heartbeat. You could go to the early
pregnancy unit and get serial HCGs every 48 hours to determine if the hcg is in a viable range and rising to determine the viability of the pregnancy and help rule out miscarriage/chemical pregnancy whilst awaiting a scan.

Thats great advice - I have contacted my local EPAS and left a message, had registered I was pregnant yesterday

You need to continue to get scans and hcg taken every few days. Not to alarm you but I only bled this heavy and continued to have faint tests when I had an ectopic. They took my bloods every few days to confirm hcg was not doubling (with ectopics it can go up and down), and then I received an injection to end the ectopic pregnancy.

My Urine this morning is now testing negative - but the bleeding has settled overnight.
I was not due on until tomorrow

Ectopic was also my instinct but now the test has gone negative I am not sure what to think
EPAS told me to test next Thursday to be sure and it still faint positive for a scan

Test is mild positive now I have looked at it again (albeit outwith the timeframe)
