** Will taking clomid effect a clearblue fertility monitor**

Hi, This may be a stupid question but I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice, I have just got myself a new Clearblue Fertility Monitor off of E Bay . I have never used one before.I am expecting my AF in the next few days and was just wondered if taking 100mg Clomid days 2-7 will efect how the CBFM works, ie false readings etc

Women who have menopausal symptoms, polycystic ovarian syndrome, impaired liver or kidney function, are pregnant or have recently been pregnant (even if not carried to full term), may get misleading results. Similarly misleading results may be obtained by women using antibiotics containing tetracyclines, hormonal treatments (e.g. hormonal contraception, hormone replacement therapy), fertility treatments containing human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) or Luteinising Hormone (LH), or any treatment that might affect their cycle. Clomiphene citrate may elevate estrogen levels and this may result in High Fertility being declared early in the cycle and more High Days being displayed, and in some cases the Monitor may not show Peak Fertility even when ovulation occurs. We therefore recommend that women taking clomiphene citrate consult their doctor for advice before using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. "

Oh, well thought beanie, maybe I should have looked at the website first. I feel like I have wasted my money now

BTW no question is stupid.

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

Clomid is often given to women who present with ovulatory problems; using a clearblue monitor in such circumstances is not adviseable at all.

BTW you should be monitored whilst on clomid otherwise you will not know whether its doing its job properly or not.

Hi Attila, I was given Clomid as I had erratic cycles, all my bloods came back ok, I have scans on cd11 -12 my first cycle at 50mg didn't work so they upped me to 100mg, it worked with that cycle but turned out to be a chemical pregnancy, I got the CBFM just to try and increase our chances further.

Littlemissdaisy - don't be sad. the advice is to check with your doctor.

you can always sell the monitor on ebay, that's where I got mine and I have seen people get almost what they paid for them

If you have erratic cycles my guess is that your bloodwork showed some hormonal imbalances. What hormone levels were tested, can you recall?. Such things can get missed if for instance a GP looks as the test results.

Would sell the monitor on Ebay.
