Clearblue Fertility Monitor or Persona? Pros and cons please

I know of several people who got pregnant using Persona, although I know it's actually a contraceptive really. I am thinking of buying one of them but not sure what to buy. My periods are between 28 and 32 days. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

I used Persona, it worked well for me. (Have never tried clearblue fertility thingy so can't compare them sorry).
Initially it's a bit of a faff, as you get through heaps of the little stick thingies and have to keep testing every time it tells you to, which is quite a lot of the first month. after that it demands fewer of the tests, so less peeing on sticks for a bit.
After a few months it gives very good prediction of the various bits of your cycle, and it had just the info i needed

Mine cost around £50 at the time, don't know what they go for now, got it in Boots as it then got me enough advantage points to get several sets of the stick things for free

Thanks. Any advice on Clearblue?

I used persona and clearblue as my cycle was too long for persona alone... I also got a persona machine for £6 on Ebay which was great. I found them useful, but not as reliable or informative as charting my temp and other signs.

I have a clearblue monitor and am on my third cycle of using it. Cost me just over £50 on ebay and then I bought the sticks (box of 20)from ebay for £15.

I find it easy to use and got peaks on my first time of using it on about day 16. I have read that other people have got several highs and no peaks in the first cycle and it can ask for more than 10 sticks in the first month but I was lucky and only got asked for 10. This month it started asking me for sticks on day 5 of my cycle.

I love it, though it hasn't got me pregnant yet, because it is really good knowing when you are ovulating and timing sex around the high and peak days.

oh Chequers, I think perhaps I was being a bit too argumentative and not thinking of other people's feelings. I never remember who's said what, it's a terrible trait of mine.

Pregnant within 3 months? This gives me something to aim for .

I hope it works for me, I'm still at the 'excited about peeing on the sticks' stage

CBFM is great. So easy and at least you feel like you are 'doing something'. I only needed 10 sticks a month so 1 pack £14.99 (ebay) lasted me 2 months. I got pg 3rd month of using it too. Good luck!!

I've got pregnant 3 times using my Persona monitor all within 3 months. I think it was well worth the money, I've had mine for 9 years.

beaniesteve · 20/05/2008 11:05

OH! I am hoping I get the month three pregnancy too

Squack · 20/05/2008 11:23

Just to let you know the monitors are made by the same people.

The persona sticks will work on the CB digi OPK which is a huge cost saving given the DigiOPK doesn't have replacement sticks you can buy.

I have a persona I've had for years and have used it twice to get pg, both times the first month.

This time I've had a chemical pg (first month) and a bizarre mammoth cycle (second month).

Hopefully the third month is a sticky one

They're much of a muchness really. I do really rate the CB digi OPK though and if you know roughly when you O and have a regular cycle I think I would go for that instead.

£22.99 for the first pack with the digi thingy, then buy persona sticks for it after the first month (if needed of course). A pack of Persona sticks could last you 2-3 months.

Oh and pay no attention to the old chestnut "don't use sticks with different batch numbers in the same month", that's a complete rip off and makes no bloody difference.

BlueCornflower · 20/05/2008 22:25

Think I will go for Persona... My cycle seems to fluctuate between about 25 and 32 days so hope that isn't too irregular for it??

Thanks for the advice. Will now become one of those POAS people - if I read that one right!
