Positive pregnancy test but AF seems to have arrived?

I had a positive test this morning, another this afternoon and then a clear blue one tonight.

However, I started spotting at lunch time (today is the day my period is due). Gradually this went from brown to pale pink and now red and watery. Just like my period.

I will test again tomorrow but any advice? Now have a pad on and taken some paracetamol as don’t want to get my hopes up.

It might be a chemical pregnancy, or it could just be implantation bleeding which I had with all my pregnancies.
See how things go overnight, fingers crossed for you that the bleeding stops x

It could be implantation bleed or a little haematoma. I had this. I have had three pregnancies, one miscarriage and bleeding with all three. If it becomes heavy and red with cramps it's probably over but in the meantime, keep hope and I really hope the little baby stays. xx

@user2848502016 and @Worldinyourhands thanks for replying ❤️

So I did have mild cramping last night and have woken up now mostly with anxiety but also felt damp down there. To my surprise, there’s still very little on the pad and only bleeding when wiping. It is fresh blood though.

Normally I’d be soaked through by now though. Still very light.

I’ll take a test in the morning again and wait and see I suppose ❤️

Sending a big hug to you, I hope you have a positive outcome xxx

OP not to scare you but I've had this with both of my ectopic pregnancies. Please contact your local EPU - they can moniter your HCG levels with blood tests. If they fall steadily then it will likely be a miscarriage, if they stagnate or rise irregularly it is likely ectopic, and if they rise normally it may be still be ectopic or may be normal. They'll keep you under their care until the pregnancy either is seen on scan and is continuing normally, or until the pregnancy ends/is ended.

It really could be normal early pregnancy bleeding, but the risk with ectopic is so dangerous that it is worth contacting them asap - the earlier the better with ectopic. Hope everything works out okay.

Thanks @Throwitaway12345. I called them and they said to wait 7 days and retest but if I begin to feel unwell or flood pads etc then I should go straight there.

Sorry to hear about your losses. That must have been terrifying. Did you take tests each day? Did you seem them get lighter x

I took tests daily. First time they stayed light for a couple of weeks and didn't change at all then finally faded (my body resolved that ectopic pregnancy without intervention).

The second time they got darker and darker and filled me with lots of hope, digitals were all positive, clearblue weeks indicator was increasing etc. The only telltale signs were the initial bleeding (that never resumed again) and cramps that started mild and barely noticeable until I was 7 weeks pregnant when they did get worse. My HCG was rising normally on blood tests so I finally had a scan where the ectopic was found. I had medical treatment which did not work, and ended up rupturing requiring emergency surgery.

This is why I'm so wary of the advice on this site often being 'sounds like a chemical, better luck next cycle' as it's so blasé. If I'd believed that and stopped testing I wouldn't have even known the following month that the pregnancy was the same one as the previous. I'm certain I wouldn't have made it to hospital in time before losing consciousness If I hadn't been extremely aware of my situation and on guard.

It's such a hard spot to be in currently but I would follow their advice for the 7 days, keep testing and any pain (even mild) that seems one sided please contact them again urgently.

Hey @Throwitaway12345 that sounds so scary 😟 so sorry to hear of your losses, especially with the darkening tests which would have no doubt filled you with hope.

I had a negative test yesterday so it does appear to be a chemical pregnancy for me this cycle. I feel almost grateful though because I was a bit worried of the test being positive and then having all the added worry of an ectopic.

If I hadn’t been TTC, I wouldn’t even have known as my period arrived as always 10 days after ovulation. I took a test the morning it was due and it was positive. It all happened very quickly.

So sorry for your loss, but I am relieved for you that it appears to be a complete one without complications.

TTC is so cruel and I'm so sorry you're going through this xx

@Throwitaway12345 thanks, yes I’m glad it happened when and how it did at least.

I know, it is a rollercoaster of emotions at times xx thank you ❤️
