High Activation & High NK cell count treated with prednisolone only

Hi, just need a bit of reassurance here, I have had 5 miscarriages in a row and after begging the NHS they have finally done some immune testing.
Results came back saying that I have high NK cells count and High activation marker.
i was given 25mg prednisolone to start at ovulation. (and later on some heparin when pregnant).
Has anybody have these 2 results been ok this protocol without any hydroxychloroquine? Did it work? I am just worried it might not be enough!

@CarpeDiem75 I have just come across your note above. I too am on pred from ovulation but not the hydroxy. I do take low dose aspirin of my own accord which my specialist approves of. I am on my sixth cycle since my last loss at 5 weeks. My second loss was also at 5 weeks but my first was an MMC found at my 12 week scan. This will be my fourth cycle on the pred after ovulation.
I have high NK cells but my activation marker is not too severe,,
My NK cell number was 251 and activation 21. Were yours similar?
My tests were done privately but hydroxy has not been suggested,

@Objectiontimehi sorry didn’t see your message!! Thanks for replying! How are you doing? My NK cell count is 280 and activation 1.81 just at the limit of being high. I have just found out I am pregnant so I am really anxious at the minute. But it seems you and me have similar experience as we don’t get past the first few weeks. I just can’t relax at all. I am waiting for my prescription for heparin as I am meant to start now. Are you actively trying to conceive this month? Let me know how you are doing x

@Objectiontime so seems that prednisolone alone didn’t work as I have started to bleed tonight 😞 so it is back to square one for us…
how are you doing? Have you started your treatment?

Goodness, I'm so sorry to hear your latest news. That's really awful for you. The worst thing is that its impossible to tell withe early losses whether they would have happened anyway or if the treatment hasnt worked. Do you think you may need progesterone too? Are you taking low dose aspirin? I know you were going to have heparin so I am assuming not. I cant remember from this or other threads why you were going to be in the heparin.
I have just started my 7th cycle since my last loss. This will be my fourth on pred and low dose aspirin.
Hope you get some answers. Can you have intralipid infusions? I know they quite expensive,

I am on the nhs so I don’t think they will offer ivig I will see if they can adjust my treatment… I just feel so let down with my body I am not sure why I have managed to get my baby 6 yr ago and now it is early loss after early loss… I really hope for you it works soon. I do have heparin progesterone and aspirin! So I have the whole lot and still no changes. I might try HCQ again next time as it might be the miracle drug in this instance to help. I just don’t know anymore.. I really thought prednisolone would be the answer … so so disappointed as this one pretty my last option 😭😭

So I get exactly how you feel about this. There is such hope and when it’s dashed it’s unbearable. I am thinking that the HCQ could help but who knows with these things. I am really hoping you get a better result soon. It’s such trauma, the cycle of trying, conceiving, losing and starting again, all through no fault of your own. You are very much in my thoughts x

much! Such a rollercoaster! I have started hydroxychloroquine on Monday so I am not sure whether to try when my period are back or wait another cycle as it seems these drug takes at least 6 weeks to be efficient! Where are you in your cycle? I hope it works!! I am having everything crossed for you! How many cycles can you do on prednisolone? x

Hello, I'm thinking it might depend when you get your next period but I would probably start trying from there. I am currently 4 dpo. I had a very positive result in two ovulation tests on Saturday 17th but this was followed by no temp rise and then on Tuesday two more massively positive O tests with a little pain on one side. This has been followed by my usual temp rise so I am pretty certain ovulation has happened. Of course, it did mean that I took the pred four four days longer than I could have but I will test next weekend and stop it if negative (it gets bloody expensive as I feel I have to use FRER each day from 11 dpo just to make sure there is no faint line and I can stay off the pred!.
Not too sure how many cycles you can do kn the pred. This is my fourth and I am a bit anxious because it took me 5 cycles after my MMC to conceive my first Chemical and then only 3 to conceive my second Chemical. I am now in cycle 7 since then and currently preying that I wint be in and off the pred every month for too much longer.
