TTC over 1 year, GP said some back in 3 months?

Saw a GP at one year, she said keep trying for 3 months and if no luck come back. It’s been 2 months and nothing - would you just book an appt now? I thought the guidance was 1 year and there’s things I think affecting our inability so waiting feels unhelpful? I also think it might take a while to get an appointment, so maybe requesting now might still be a month until I get an appointment anyway? Or would you wait the full 3 months then book in?

it depends on age I think for how much time they want you to try yourself. If you’re younger maybe they think it’s worth trying a bit longer. I was 36 when we started trying. Why not contact them again? They’ll only say wait a bit longer if it’s a no. And if not then you can start some blood tests with them. Fertility investigations and treatments are a long, long waiting game. Best of luck, hope you get pregnant without help soon!

I would just book in now. It seems crazy to make you wait a further 3 months, it seems an odd amount of time considering you’ve been trying a year.

Thanks both. Yes anticipating it will all game ages anyway so seems cruel to make us wait longer unnecessarily! I’ll request an appt and see what they say ☺️

If you have a particularly unhelpful GP, see what the guidelines are for your area for referral and quote it to them if it says a year!

I haven’t actually been able
to find anything online, except for IVF criteria - but nothing about before that unfortunately

I think you can contact your local integrated care board to find out x
