Clearblue Advanced vs. Easy@Home - showing different results?

Hello,

I'm just looking to see if anybody has had a similar experience and can help shed light on my current situation.

Last month was the first time I have tracked ovulation and everything was textbook. I had various symptoms, ovulated around the middle of my cycle which was confirmed at the same time by a static clearblue test and a positive easy@home test on the same morning.

Fast forward to this month, my ovulation seems to have come a few days later with way less symptoms. I started to think it wasn't coming at all, but then I had a static Clearblue smiley which was a relief.. but then none of my easy@home tests have been positive since so I'm a bit confused?? I'm tempted to trust the clearblue over easy@home because I know quite a few people who found the easy@home tests unreliable.. but still seems strange they aligned last month but not this one? I've also had a strange month where my easy@home strips have fluctuated way more than they did last cycle.

Has anybody ever had CB positive but no positive on e@h but confimed they did ovulate and the CB was accurate? Almost annoyed I've done the strips as well.. if I just used the CB I'd have taken that as confirmation and moved on!

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Yes!! last month my CB said i ovulated a lot early then the premoms were it was very odd. CB gave me peak on day 14 whilst premom wasn’t until 17. I DTD every day but still didn’t get pregnant.
I also have multiple clear blue test holders x2 purple and one of the pink ones and they all told me different things using the same urine so now idea how accurate they all are! i’ve got a new kit this month 🤣

Yes. Clear blue said I'd ovulated. By chance had a scan that day (assisted conception using clomid). Scan confirmed I HADN't ovulated at all.

oh that’s interesting! did you have signs you were ovulating?
i know sometimes your body can skip a ovulation 🙃

Nothing out of the ordinary. I'd been tracking and to be fair "on paper" the prediction was correct timing wise. I do have PCOS so that likely had something to do with it; although I would have thought it wouldn't give an incorrect result...Pure coincidence I had a scan that day that confirmed the position and meant the hospital could give the "trigger injection" to force ovulation that month.

oh really!!? This is so strange. Out of interest, which one aligned best with when you came on your period? I'm really not sure which one to believe.. but my premom haven't been positive once and the CB did align with the symptoms I had + the day it was positive, so I'm inclined to believe it and it also says it's 99% accurate so makes me wonder whether the easy@home just didn't pick up my surge or something? The only way I'll know is if my period (or a positive test) comes in line with the clearblue positive..

Oh this is interesting.. did your Doctor at the scan say why that might be? Do you think your LH surged but didn't enough to release the egg? Or.. I've heard the LH surge instructs your ovary to release an egg, but it doesn't actually release it until 24-48 hours later so I wonder if you would have ovulated the following day if you hadn't triggered anyway?

again two different results using the same urine.. one is low and the other is flashing face. Pre mom is at 0.26?!

I’ve had a similar thing. I got a solid smile with CB advanced on CD13, but not a positive on a test strip. I then tested yesterday using the test strip (CD15) and got very strong positive. I’m now confused about when my peak was.

it’s so frustrating isn’t it!

Do you guys track BBT? That should confirm when ovulation is especially if you are having decent gaps between predictions) and tell you which set of tests to trust. Easy@home is always super accurate for me

LeafCorner · 08/03/2025 14:20

@Chillid123 i don’t track BBT sadly. I wish i did because this is so confusing!

this is my first month of tracking bbt but it’s not looking very accurate as is cold one day then up then down so who knows 🤣

Have you tracked past an ovulation yet? I have a baby who wakes constantly through the night so never get the 4hours solid sleep or take it at the same time every day but even with that variation, my pre-ovulation temps are all 36.3C or lower and my post-ovulation temps are about 36.6C. It doesn’t matter if you get some fluctuations as long as they are smaller than your ovulation rise

AnonTTC · 10/03/2025 11:50

I don’t track BBT but might do next cycle. I am actually going for a blood test at my clinic tomorrow to see if I did ovulate (7 days post static smiley on CB) so I will keep you all updated. My clinic did say they recommend clear blue as the tests to use based on accuracy and ease of interpreting the results.. they did say they’d also recommend only using one type of test too which I assume is so we don’t get ourselves into these types of stresses! I have lots of friends who never got a positive on easy@home but once they started using CB they were finding their peak so maybe it’s just that the CB are more sensitive? I’ll let you all know anyway.. if my progesterone test confirms ovulation I think I will stick to the CB moving forwards and trust they are right. I have to say.. the result on the CB test does align with the ovulation symptoms I’ve had this month so fingers crossed!

Just to update you all, I had my test results back which shows a test result of less than one, meaning I haven't ovulated this cycle. I guess that means it's good to use more than one testing method, and also proves that the Clearblue Advanced aren't always accurate.. because they gave me a static smiley on CD 20. Not sure why I got a positive result, unless maybe there was a slight peak which didn't get high enough? Safe to say I now feel like nothing is reliable though!! I think to know for sure we definitely have to be using multiple OPK tests as well as temping.

Sorry to hear this, it’s frustrating but keeping track of BBT, cervical mucus and LH tests (I would agree to pick one and stick to it) will give you the most amount of information on where you are in your cycle.

For LH I use easy@home because they are cheap enough that I can take 2+ a day around the time I’m expecting a peak (I usually get egg white CM about 2-3 days prior to peak). I’ve also used them for years and never had any issues but it is good to remember a peak can be quite short

Hi @Chillid123 ,

Thank you.. it is rubbish but I had a feeling so not shocked.

I had a perfect cycle last month and got a positive on clearblue and easy@home on the same day so I do find using 2 methods helpful to give reassurance/confirmation. If I hadn't used 2 methods this cycle then I'd not have spotted the difference and known to get the bloods tested, so I guess it has saved me some time in that sense.

Think I will definitely try BBT next cycle though, just to give me that added confirmation that it actually did happen.

What a whirlwind this process is!!
