after 9 month of ttc I am getting really worried

Hi
Have been ttc my 2nd dc for 9 months now with no luck.
I am becoming concerned that something may be wrong now.
I realise there is people on here who have been trying much longer but at 37 I really do not feel that I have much time.
I have a underactive thyroid which has been playing up and which as also been messing up my cycle quite a bit.
I am so concerned that it may not happen for me.
I am due to see to a gyno on the 16th of may and I am really hoping that they will help me out.
IS there anybody else on here who feels as anxious as me.

good luck, i really feel for you. We took a year to 'get' DS2, resorting to ovulation tests and frantic 'doingit' the minute the line showed up on them! I was 32, hardly a spring chicken either. (sorry counting you in there, but it was you who started it )
I had some treatment (not going to go there) with lots of scans to check that it was all going ok. Majorly stressful, but worth it in the end. hope you get the little bundle you hope for everything crossed for you.

I suggest you also ask to see an endocrinologist about your thyroid if you are not seeing one already
It needs to be sorted otherwise it can mess up conception/cause mc

hi lostit - I have read a few of your posts and fell similarly to you (ttc no 2). I went to my GP on 3 or 4 occaisions over the last few months and basically bugged him until he took me seriously - the end result? He has now referred me to the fertility unit at my local hospital and I have an app for 27th may!

Its probably just the beggining of the journey really this appointment (am pretty sure there are issues on my side and know there are issues on DH's part) but at least I feel like I am moving in the right direction as I feel time is ticking.

At least you have an app with the gyne, that is brilliant. I spoke to a gyne nurse recently who had done the job for 20 years and she said the most important thing is to get yourself referred to a gyne consultant as GP's can end up inadvertantly wasting precious time - and you've done that so your half way there!

Yes I was worried that I could be wasting my time with my gp.
She didn,t seem that keen to refer me instead saying that they will only tell me what she has old me that I need to get my thyroid sorted first.
But you know I am hoping at least that I will find somebody who will maybe keep a closer check on my thyroid, and give me more regular checks to ensure my dose is right, amd also somebody who will go through the results of blood tests properly with me instead of just expecting me to take their word they are okay. I really don,t feel I can rely on my doctor to have the right experience in this field.
I still don,t know if I even ovulate properly or even if I am likely to go into a early menopause like family members between the ages of 38 and 40.
I would have thought that some blood tests can detect these things but my doctor seems so vague on it imp.
What I am dreading is that they will take the same attitude as my doctor.
I am hoping that they will do more blood tests and go through results properly so I know where I stand with fertility.
I am pretty sure that my thyroid is playing up due to feelings of tirednes etc.

when did your gp last check your thyroid?
were the results ok?

Lostit - I really think a consultant/gyne (not too sure on the correct term??) will be able to talk about this in a much less vague way - that is the impression the gyne nurse I saw gave me anyway - her attitude was basically "gp's - absolutley no use (in general) when it comes to fertility stuff, consultant will get straight on with finding out what/if the there is a prob and treating it accordingly. Also as theblonde says, if you need your thyroid prob looking into i would bet on it the consultant can arrange this much more quickly/efficiently than the GP. GP's are great at general practice but like any job if you are looking at a specialist area like fertlity, then you need a specialist!
