When to take a pregnancy test after Nexplanon

Hiya

So I had my contraceptive implant removed approx 3 weeks ago. Since then I have had unprotected sex numerous times (trying for DC2). I took a pregnancy test yesterday which was negative but I still haven't had my period return.

When do you think I should test again? Thanks

I would probably just test once a week until period comes back. It took a little while for my cycle to regulate after my implant came out but it was a bit all over the place whilst I had it in!

Hey!

Have you had your initial “bleed” since the removal? I had mine roughly 7 days after removal. The first bleed isn’t a period it is just a withdrawal bleed as the hormones calm down. I had my first period 4/5 weeks after this. So I will have ovulated roughly between week 2/3 after the withdrawal bleed but 3/4 weeks after the removal.

I wasn’t TTC or tracking initially, for the sake of your question technically you ‘could’ fall pregnant immediately but it takes a couple of weeks for your body to ovulate, so for testing purposes I would consider roughly 4-5 weeks after your withdrawal bleed. However, some ladies periods take longer to come back and some may be shorter. Your cycle normally takes around 6 months to completely regulate. My was in a pattern from about 4 months after.

The first time I came off the implant AF never even returned - stopped whilst on the implant and I got pregnant very quickly after it was taken out! (It was a great first conversation with the midwife who asked me my last period date and I told her ‘about 8 years ago!’)

I took a test after about 6 weeks and it was a strong positive
