How early is too early to test?!

Hi Ladies. I know I’m going to be told to wait until I miss my period, but how early is too early to test with the Premom test strips?

I ovulated early this month (CD12, usually CD15) and I’m now 8 days post ovulation (CD20). My period is due at some point between Sunday and next Wednesday based on previous cycles. The thing is for the last 48 hours I’ve had the most sore tender boobs I can ever remember having and they feel like they’re on fire! I appreciate this could just be a sign that my period is on its way but I’ve never experienced anything like this before. No other symptoms to suggest my period is on its way or anything that I’d count as a pregnancy symptom.

Now I’ve posted this my period will probably turn up imminently! 😂

I tested positive at 9dpo with my little girl ☺️

8DPO is far too early OP. I’d honestly recommend waiting until you miss your period, don’t torture yourself with days of tests which even if you were pregnant wouldn’t show positive yet. Good luck x

The earliest I've tested positive at 9dpo but it was a FRER

OldTinHat · 21/01/2025 18:59

My mum had to miss three periods before the GP would confirm her pregnancy with me.

It's amazing tests can pick up a pregnancy so early now.

I had to wait 6wks for a positive test with DS who will be 26 soon.

I hope you get the result you want, OP.

Yes, wait to miss your period then test. Save yourself the mental anguish of early testing

MyUmberSeal · 21/01/2025 19:35

Save yourself the anguish and the money and test if your period is late. If you test now and it’s negative, you’ll tell yourself that it’s likely too early and then do it all again a day or two later…. So you may as well wait.

BrightLilacCat · 21/01/2025 19:40

Message received! I’ll wait to see if my period turns up and then test if not. I’ve now convinced myself that my period is going to arrive super early at any moment!

So… I completely ignored everyone’s advice (so sorry) and tested this morning at 9 days post ovulation and got a faint positive. I’m not going to test again now for a few days and trying to be in the mindset of what will be will be.

Amazing news!! There’s no wait id be able to wait for a missed period so I totally get you

Groundhogday2025 · 22/01/2025 12:55

Tentative congrats! No, I always give the advice to wait but didn't follow it myself either 😊

BrightLilacCat · 22/01/2025 13:02

Thank you @BGxxx and @Groundhogday2025 . I’m completely shocked to see such a faint line. I thought it would be far too early. I’ve also got some health problems and the consultant told us the chances of conceiving naturally were very low. I’m aware it’s very very early days so I’m going to be cautiously optimistic and keep everything crossed for the next few weeks.

@BrightLilacCat i think it’s a very good sign that you’ve got a good line this early ☺️

BrightLilacCat · 22/01/2025 18:40

Thank you for the reassurance @BGxxx 😊
