8dpo and holding out to test

Hey

Wondering if anyone is at the same sort of time as me at 9dpo. It's cycle 1 of trying to conceive baby number 2, I have a 3 year old daughter.

I've been feeling so nauseous for the past couple of days and had really bad back ache yesterday. I feel totally off so thinking I may get a positive but who knows. I'm holding out to test as with my first I was wild and was testing multiple times a day at this point. AF is due in 7 days so going to try and hold out.

Love to hear from others x

8dpo over here and similarly struggling to hold off until at least Friday! Cycle 8 of TTC baby number 1 and beginning to feel like there must be something wrong :( I had a chemical in August but nothing since. However, I’ve just felt different today too - nausea and mild cramps which I’ve managed to semi convince myself is implantation cramping (I weirdly never normally cramp at all before AF arrives).

Fingers crossed for a positive for both of us!

jennifercx · 07/01/2025 21:07

Sending you lots of baby dust ✨
With my first it took a good few months to get a positive. Are you using ovulation sticks?
Yes fingers crossed for both of us. I suffered quite badly with sickness in my last pregnancy and this feels very similar. I think I may wait until Saturday to test if I can manage to wait that long x

Hi @jennifercx And @BrunetteHair
Im 8dpo too but I have been testing on cheap strip tests I cant help myself even though I know Implantation may not even have happened yet.
@BrunetteHair I also had a loss in August and nothing since, its so hard.
Ttc baby no.3

carolinep3 · 07/01/2025 21:14

I am 8dpo today too.
I don’t think I’m going to test as I’ve had some really light spotting today, I am pretty bummed as I think I’m out. I’m on cycle 3, think it is better mental health wise to wait for af as getting a negative just puts me in a bad mood, and then impatient for cd1 to just start! Least on actual cd1 you can start again!
im just writing down a new plan for next cycle 🙈

jennifercx · 07/01/2025 21:18

Hi @ThatSnugSwan I tested so much in my last pregnancy so I've not bought any tests this time. It's so hard to have them sitting there and not use them isn't it. Fingers crossed it's your month!x

@carolinep3 you never know, the spotting could be implantation. Got everything crossed for you x are you planning on testing or just wait for AF?

OP posts:
ThatSnugSwan · 07/01/2025 21:22

Really is @jennifercx its almost like an addiction. Ive promised myself if I go into another month of ttc (hoping I wont) but I wont buy or have any tests until 12 dpo because I actually just upset myself over the tests. I second that @carolinep3 is there a chance its implantation bleed? When is AF due?

carolinep3 · 07/01/2025 21:32

I don't think so. Just because I tend to spot every month on cd21, like a tiny tiny bit, then it gradually gets worse until cd1. (I've made a doctors appointment about it today)

I was hoping it was implantation bleeding last month but researched it so much and it wasn't.
I might test on Thursday if it stops as then that would be 48 hours and should show some kind of faint like if I was pregnant. But not holding out much hope!

BrunetteHair · 07/01/2025 21:34

@jennifercx yes to the ovulation sticks but only been using them for this cycle and the last and have been pretty consistent with the apps predictions too!

@carolinep3 @ThatSnugSwan I know what you both mean about the testing. The first few cycles I went through so many so trying to stop being too crazy with them now for my mental health too.

jennifercx · 07/01/2025 21:42

@ThatSnugSwan totally an addiction, I was driving myself crazy looking for the faintest line. As the others said it's definitely better for your mental health to wait although the the waiting is also driving me crazy haha

@BrunetteHair the month I conceived my daughter was the second cycle of using ovulation sticks, I think that's the best way unless you're not going crazy.

@carolinep3 sounds potentially a good sign then, fingers crossed for a test on Thursday xx

@ThatSnugSwan yes I see it too 🥰 can you get your hands on a first response early test to be sure? Xxx

OP posts:
BrunetteHair · 08/01/2025 14:31

Ahh @ThatSnugSwan I see a faint line too! Fingers crossed it gets darker over the next couple of days!

ThatSnugSwan · 08/01/2025 14:52

@jennifercx They dont sell them where I live, Im in Ireland. Ill get a boots early test at the weekend

jennifercx · 08/01/2025 17:58

Got everything crossed for you @ThatSnugSwan but it's looking good so far 🥰

After feeling nauseous for 2 days and back pain, today I feel absolutely fine so starting to think I was imagining symptoms.. should know by Monday anyway as AF is normally on time

OP posts:
Kittypidgeon · 08/01/2025 20:08

Thought I'd join in with you all hope that's ok ❤️

I'm currently 10dpo, due my period Saturday and since Monday have hardly been able to eat, eating anything is making me feel sick, and I've completely lost my appetite.

I had a loss back in August as well, which was my first positive ❤️

Every test I've taken (the little cheapy ones) have all been negative but holding out hope still 🥺

I guess I'll know in a few days, I don't know how people can go about their daily lives when trying to get pregnant 😔 it's such a toll!

jennifercx · 09/01/2025 09:26

Hey @Kittypidgeon so sorry to hear about your loss xx hoping this months your month. My period is due Monday so I'm just a couple of days behind you. I caved yesterday and took a test and it was negative, I was convinced I've been having symptoms. Trying to convince really does take over your life doesn't, sending you big hugs xxx

OP posts:
jennifercx · 10/01/2025 16:22

How's everyone getting on? I've had spotting today but testing negative so think it must just be sighs of AF which is due on Monday.
Hope you're all ok ❤️

OP posts:
BrunetteHair · 10/01/2025 17:51

@jennifercx and @Kittypidgeon negative tests here too :( AF due Tuesday so still have a slight hope but I suspect I’m probably out for this cycle given when I think I ovulated. Thinking of you all xx

Kittypidgeon · 10/01/2025 17:53

Hmm @jennifercx @BrunetteHair even with negatives at this stage, surely there could still be a chance? ❤️

Me clutching at straws ❤️

jennifercx · 10/01/2025 18:16

Been doing some googling and potentially could be implantation but it's 11dpo now so would be very late if it was. @Kittypidgeon @BrunetteHair we still have time xx

I ordered some coQ10 and DHA supplements today and conceive plus gel as I remembered I used them all for the first time the month we conceived my daughter. Could have just been coincidence but worth a try

OP posts:
carolinep3 · 10/01/2025 18:42

I'm still spotting, but brown now (sorry tmi) it is such light spotting every month but it is like a mini period in it self - pink, red to brown! So weird.
Haven't tested, af due Monday.

I've actually spoke to an acupuncturist today who specialises in fertility. He was talking about how he recommends a thyroid test for all secondary infertility, he seems very knowledgeable and has an interesting fertility blog. I'm considering making an appointment.

jennifercx · 11/01/2025 15:27

@carolinep3 that's what mines been like but I'm definitely coming on my period so I'm out for this month.
Have you tested yet?
The acupuncturist sounds interesting, have you got another little one? It took me 3 cycles with my daughter but I'm now 34 now rather than 29 when she was conceived xx

I've made an appointment for next Saturday, be interesting what he has to say, hopefully can help. Yes I have two children already, but I am 37 now
