How often are you having sex (TTC)?

Sorry, personal question 🤣 but the NHS say “sex every 2-3 days”, however with cycle tracking and OPKs etc, we have a good idea of when our fertile window is.

I’m planning to book a GP appt soon to discuss, but worried they’ll expect us to be doing this (having sex every 2-3 days), or is it enough to say we’re having unprotected sex in the fertile window?
I did read before it’s important to have regular sex for fertility, including because the sperm need to be regularly “expelled” and replenished?

I think the NHS mostly says this because it gives the best chance of not missing the window and because it is thought to be overall less stressful for couples than trying to time things perfectly. I’m sure the NHS understands, though, that having sex every 2-3 days for potentially months on end is not sustainable for all couples depending on libido. 😅

I never got to the point of needing to discuss this with a doctor, so I don’t know how that goes, but FWIW I’m sure what you’re proposing to say would be fine. I doubt the doctor is going to dig further, especially if you make clear that you understand there is a key time in the month for these things...

I once read that regular is best but not 'too' regular (ie every day).
When TTC we tried to be as normal as possible and not put a huge amount of pressure on ourselves. We had unprotected sex throughout the month just as and when we normally would but around our 'fertile week' (I was only very loosely keeping track of when I'd be mid cycle rather than physically tracking) we'd try for every other day.
Also used conceive plus lube in that week
