How long did it take to conceive 2nd/3rd baby

I’m currently just going into cycle 3 for baby no:3

feeling totally deflated as I’ve always fallen pregnant instantly in the past. Once got pregnant after taking the morning after pill. With baby no. 2 had sex once that month and was pregnant.

A year ago we were not trying for a baby (my partner pulls out/uses condoms) and I found out I was pregnant…was very excited despite the surprise but it ended in a MMC at 10/11 weeks.

Since then I’ve been desperate to be pregnant again but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I’ve ordered some ovulation tests as I have an app Flo app that tells when I ovualte based on period but worried I’m totally out on dates.

just looking for some positive stories as it seems odd that I would usually conceive so easy but this time not easy at all.

First baby conceived on the second cycle (aged 36, almost 37).

Second baby took 4 years!

Secondary infertility is a thing for many of us unfortunately.

MyPinkFish · 02/01/2025 07:52

1st baby took 3 months (29 when I had her)

Currently 13 weeks with number 2 who took 2 months (will be 32)

Second one was a big shock as only had implant out 2 months prior!

Good luck for cycle 3 OP xx

OP you are stressing way, way too much considering it's only been 3 months. Just because it's always happened first time before, doesn't mean it will again. I think you need to relax as stressing can (and did for me) make it take longer. Don't forget age plays a role too so it's normal to get pregnant faster, younger.

First was "unplanned"

Second time round we conceived straight away but miscarried, then it took 7 months to conceive ds2.

It's pointless comparing, it depends on your genetics, diet, fitness, age, hormones, timing relative to your cycle, your partners sperm count and sperm health. It could be one attempt or many years.

Two cycles for no 2. Three is more than I've ever done, but it doesn't seem very long really.

First month both times - but everyone is different OP! Relax you have only just started trying.

Second baby - first month age 26

Third baby - second month age 33

First after 6 months I think at 34 years old, currently 25 weeks pregnant at 39 years old with second.

Tried for 3 years for second but gave up after diagnosis of DOR and egg donor being only option, to our surprise it just happened, I'd been so poorly for a week and thought missed period was perimenopause! Thinking about it now I'd been at my new job just over a year and was so much happier and less stressed.

I've just fallen pregnant for the third time. My first pregnancy was first cycle, second pregnancy (miscarriage) was first cycle, and this pregnancy was 4th cycle. Hope it happens for you soon!

I got pregnant straight away with babies 1 and 2. Like you, with baby number 2, I had unprotected sex once that month and got pregnant. Baby 3 took 5 months, had to start tracking my cycle and using opk , which I had never done before. We wanted a 4th child and again, I had to use opk and track everything as it wasn't happening. I started seed cycling on the 5th cycle and got pregnant with twins on the 6th cycle

9 months for LO1; 11 months (and counting) for LO2.

You’re still so early in the journey, it is normal for it to take 6-12 months.
