Think I’m having a chemical pregnancy

That’s it really. I feel pretty sad but don’t want to spoil anyone’s Christmas so keeping quiet.

We’ve been TTC our second child for 15 months and I finally got a very faint line on 20th Dec. Confirmed with a digital which said ‘Pregnant 1-2 weeks’. But since then the lines haven’t got any darker. They’re so faint, barely there. Yesterday one digital test said Not Pregnant. Another said the same as the original ‘Pregnant 1-2 weeks’. I’m feeling sick but no other symptoms. I’m about 17dpo and have had a tiny bit of pale pink and brown spotting but no heavy bleeding yet.

I guess I just want to share really and maybe a handhold. Any advice on what to expect next?

@Mumontherunn I hope you're ok ❤️

I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant and I was convinced I was having a chemical pregnancy too but alls worked out fine ❤️ keeping everything crossed for you!

Mumontherunn · 24/12/2024 21:53

@sellingupslow ahh thank you for such a reassuring message. That’s lovely to hear. It’s not over until it’s over I suppose ❤️ Think I’ll stop testing for a few days and try and keep as calm as possible

Those tests are so dependent on strength of urine and how much you have drank. Try to test every few days if you can. I know it's hard though

MakeMeJuno · 27/12/2024 13:45

Sending you well wishes @Mumontherunn - I had a CP a few days before Xmas. I really hope yours sticks xx

Mumontherunn · 27/12/2024 14:30

@MakeMeJuno thanks for your sweet message. So sorry to hear you had a CP before Christmas. How are you feeling? I’m pretty sure it is a CP. I’ve been spotting but it’s getting a bit heavier today. Tests still flitting between positive and negative. I think deep down I know it hasn’t stuck x

@Ella31 I have been trying to wait and put it to the back of my mind over Christmas and Boxing Day. It’s a week on from the first positive test now and really it’s barely there at all. I’ve not had one before so not really sure what to expect

Sorry you are going through this. I've had 4 chemical pregnancies since June this year. It's hard

This is so hard. I totally get it. I've had 2 mc's, and my twins died at birth last year. I'm pregnant again and I agonised over the first few weeks and my tests were very light. I'm nearly 24 weeks now. Can you get the hcg blood test to compare the rise in hormone to ease your mind. GP's should be open soon enough cc

I’m so sorry for your losses, I can’t imagine what you’ve been through. But I’m so pleased to hear your pregnancy is doing well. I hope you’re feeling well xx

I did just have an appt actually, and they have said to try and wait a week. There was no mention of a blood test. The urine test I did with the nurse was another faint positive. Perhaps I will try asking for that next week if the same is happening then

Mine were so low genuinely that I used to bawl in the gp and the baby is doing fine. Definitely get the hcg draw, say it to your gp because it's the only way to be sure. I think worry can cloud judgement with those tests. How many dpo are you

Trying to be positive - it was only our first month trying for no1 so a real surprise to fall so quickly tbh! Feels like a long wait until I ovulate again... it's a real journey. Be kind to yourself - my tests were faint for 4/5 days (no progression) and then negative one morning. I started spotting that same day and then it was just like a normal period. I have heard lots of people say they never got particularly strong tests and everything turned out ok xx

That’s brilliant news. I’m pleased for you. I will ask, thanks. Have got a Clearblue Digital to try in the morning to see if I’ve moved on to the 2-3 week bracket but I’m not hopeful. Currently 20 dpo

@Mumontherunn can I ask how this turned out please? In a similar situation myself right now 😔

Hi, sending lots of love your way. I did sadly lose that pregnancy. It was tough but I felt somewhat that I was expecting it. I hope you have more luck xx
However, I’m really happy to say two months on I am pregnant again. This seems to be progressing better and the line is much stronger and I have more symptoms. I’m cautiously optimistic right now

@Mumontherunn I think about 5.5/6 but maybe ovulated a little late, so still very early days! I feel totally normal really! You? xx

Pennyroses · 28/02/2025 15:07

@Mumontherunn thanks for replying and I'm sorry for your loss. But great news you're pregnant again! Congratulations! 🎉
I'm pretty certain I'm headed the same way, my tests are really fading now 😞 just feeling a bit defeated now as I had a chemical in September aswell and this was after a late second trimester loss in November 2023. Just don't know what I'm doing wrong!
Really thought it'd be ok this time as I had good strong lines at first as well 😞
Congrats again on your pregnancy, hope it sticks this time ✨❤️

I’m so sorry to hear of your journey. That sounds so tough. Sending you lots of luck. Has anyone spoken to you about progesterone? I’m taking progesterone for the first 12 weeks. It can help where there have been previous losses. Definitely think this might be helping x

Same. Well 5 weeks from date of last period. I have sore boobs and occasional nausea but otherwise same ☺️

@Mumontherunn thankyou, yes I have looked into progesterone and would like to try that next time. Did your GP prescribe it? I haven't been to my GP about either of my chemicals but my late loss is on their records so maybe if I did they would prescribe me it? Did you take it as soon as you got your bfp? Thanks xx
