I am cd1 on my 5th cycle of trying since my TFMR in May and this is new territory for me. I conceived my daughter at the age of 30 on the 2nd cycle and conceived my little boy in Feb this year on the 3rd cycle. Unfortunately he had T16 which was fatal. Most babies with T16 miscarry in first trimester but my little boy held on for me to see him on a scan. Unfortunately he was not doing well and i would have ended up miscarrying eventually as the condition is not compatible with life.
So here I am TTC again at the age of 35. Cycles are finally back to normal but I just don't seem to be getting pregnant as easily as before. My boys due date is tomorrow and I really hoped to be pregnant again by now.
Anyway enough with my rambling. Who else is over 30 and TTC?

I'm so sorry to hear of what you've been through😔
Same as you - I got pregnant with DS at 30. Now I'm 34 and trying for my second. I was very lucky to concieve my son on the first cycle. This time I'm on my third 2ww! Currently 6DPO.

Fairy0708 · 19/11/2024 10:37

Hey

I'm so sorry for your loss OP. That must have been very traumatic x

I concieved DS on cycle 1 at age 31. He has had major health issues including heart surgery but he is thankfully all good now.

Been TTC number 2 for 16 cycles now, started at 34 and now 35. Had a whole host of tests, scans, hubby sperm... Everything seems 'normal'. I'm grateful to not had any miscarriages or terminations but it's likely a 2nd child may also have heart issues statistically so the wait to get pregnant on top is hard

Knightbaby · 19/11/2024 11:15

@Mummysparrow Am so sorry to hear of your loss 💕 I’m 39 and going in for my 4th! This is our first month TTC, currently 8dpo. Am new here, so hello to you all 👋

CandH35 · 19/11/2024 11:28

@Mummysparrow sorry to hear you've had such a tough TTC journey. I'm 35 trying for my 1st!! This is technically my second cycle but my body has not adjusted from coming off the pill in July. My last cycle was 64 days and currently om CD 33 with no AF or BFP in sight so thinking I've not ovulated yet.

Starting to get concerned my body is going to take longer than expected to balance out. Hoping there is not an underlying condition I've not been aware off as been on the pill since I was 18. Feel like most posts I've read peoples cycles are back to normal at this point. Think if there is no improvement in the new year I'll need to see a GP.

Mummysparrow · 19/11/2024 11:32

@CandH35 I have seen it take 6 months for cycles to get back to normal after Pill which is frustrating isn't it when trying to conceive. Have you been using any LH strips to track ovulation? Also are you taking any supplements?

@Tadpolecat hopefully this is your month. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

@Fairy0708 16 cycles?! You must have patience of a saint. I can't even imagine how you are feeling and here I am moaning that I am 6 months in 😂 have you considered a hycosy scan?
@Knightbaby fingers crossed for you 🤞

I’m 32 and no living children, I had 3 back to back early miscarriages with a previous partner when I was 28, all of these were conceived first cycle. I’m now about to start ttc with my new partner so I’m anxious about not conceiving quick again or it taking longer, I’ve had all the recurrent miscarriage checks and done a hertility test, new partner had also done a male fertility test which came back fine however still anxious.

Fluffypenguin1 · 19/11/2024 12:30

Hi 👋

I’m nearly 36 and TTC #1, I cake off Depo 6 months ago and thought I was falling back into a cycle after 2/3 months of fairly regular periods but this one hasn’t arrived and I don’t think I’m pregnant, I did a test the day after AF was due although not with a morning wee and was negative. It’s madness how much is drilled into us not to get pregnant or miss one pill but coming off contraception takes forever to actually get back to “normal” isn’t it!

OP I am so sorry for your loss sending you lots of love and luck x

KittyFantastica · 19/11/2024 15:09

Hello, we first started TTC in December last year, just after I turned 35.

I fell pregnant first cycle and lost it at 6 weeks. Then I fell pregnant off the back of the chemical and lost that pregnancy at 9 weeks in March.

My cycle seemed to disappear after and I was testing positive still up to 8 weeks after my D&C. Tried LH tracking once and gave up because I had two random bleeds with no ovulation between them. I must have ovulated just as that second bleed stopped because I found myself pregnant again first week of June. Tragically, our baby boy died at 19 weeks in September when I went into preterm labour very suddenly. We still don't know why, still waiting for all the test results.

We have decided to try again, but aren't sure whether to go for it next cycle (I've had two since my son was born) or wait a bit longer to get some results back first. We so want to have a family and time is ticking. My body and mind are completely wrecked, expecting to bring so many babies home this year and having to say goodbye to every one of them. I feel bereft and so empty now I'm not pregnant anymore, it was all going so well. It's a tough spot to be in.

Honestly, after the 12 months mark it was like a weight waas lifted as I kinda dont expect it now? I joined a great gym and just focus on moving life for now. I do have lots of down moments.

I had a Hycosy in May. All was clear, they did a scan at the same time and all looked good.

Reading all these ladies stories is heartbreaking. 😞

Mummysparrow · 19/11/2024 15:28

@KittyFantastica when we were speaking nearly a year ago I really didn't envisage that we would have been on the journey we have been and still be TTC at the end of 2024. It has been a 💩 year hasn't it. Have you been told when you will get your postmortem?
@Fairy0708 I am trying hard to focus on what I do have and be thankful for my daughter. There is part of me then kinda of wants to have the if it happens it happens mentality but after a year of trying (with a loss within that year), It is hard to drop that desire for a baby isn't it.
@Fluffypenguin1 have you been tracking ovulation? I have realised that I always have my period 14 days after ovulation which has helped me keep track on when my period is due as my cycles vary now.

I did some ovulation tests about once a week a couple of months ago as thought it was probably too early after coming off the injection but think I will start doing them daily to see if anything’s happening yet! Be nice to have an idea when my period is coming as well as with not having one for years it always takes me by surprise 😂

Mummysparrow · 19/11/2024 15:43

@Fluffypenguin1 honestly I used to get well annoyed with my period as my cycles were anywhere from 28 to 35 days so it was a waiting game. It's only since my loss that I realized that I get an LH peak 2 days after EWCM and that my period was on 14dpo. Life changer 😂😂

@Mummysparrow I'm holding out hope it is the case I'm in the 6 months bracket and trying just to enjoy the Xmas period and refocus in the new year. But like you said it's so frustrating and feel in limbo while being so ready to start ttc. But I reading through everyone's posts I've had an easy journey so far in comparison.

I started taking proceive plus sachets in August. I did also start tracking ovulation using easy at home and premom app in both cycles but gave up when I realised the numbers weren't rising to save money. I did manage to catch a peak on the last cycle as my breasts and nipples were so tender I knew something must have been happening. I then got AF 14days after with some spotting the two days leading up to it so my LP seems a good length which was a relief and confirmed something was happening. Hopefully my boobs might give an indication this time as well so I can start testing and dtd closer to the peak. I think we only managed dtd 4 days before and 2 days after last cycle as I wasn't expecting it and I was away the weekend off the peak which was typical.

Mummysparrow · 19/11/2024 17:01

@CandH35 it might be worth looking out of EWCM too as that usually happens a day or two before lh peak so that could give you an indication when to LH test and when you are most fertile

KittyFantastica · 19/11/2024 22:31

I didn't know what to expect @Mummysparrow I full well knew it could take a while to get pregnant, but I never envisioned two early miscarriages and attending my own baby's funeral this year. It really has been the worst.

We declined a postmortem. He was alive and perfectly healthy the whole time. They did a bedside scan and Doppler and said he was thriving just moments before doing an exam and then telling us my membranes were bulging. They suspect an infection, but we won't know until all the tests come back we've have the debrief. Still not idea when that will be, sadly.

NamechangeTTC · 19/11/2024 22:40

So sorry @KittyFantastica and @Mummysparrow those sound harrowing

I’m 36, TTC #2. Cycle 1 and missed ovulation I reckon (although didn’t test)

truing not to obsess like last time

Mummysparrow · 20/11/2024 16:35

@KittyFantastica have they given you a timeline on how long it may take to have the debrief?
Well my period started yesterday morning briefly then stopped and done it again this morning. I am 15dpo and period is normally here 14dpo and I have a negative pregnancy test so who knows what is happening. I just want my next cycle to start.
I was thinking of going back to bare basics with vitamins but I have pretty much stopped and changed vitamins every month for the last few months so think I should probably just hold on. I have no chill any more and no patience

I’m 32 and ttc baby number 1
we got pregnant first cycle back in August but unfortunately this ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks, so currently awaiting my first af post miscarriage before we can consider trying again

1woodpecker · 20/11/2024 18:13

I’m 32, hoping for first baby. Have done various home hormone tests. Also recommend It Starts With the Egg book, all about improving egg quality which is particularly relevant if you’re 30s and above

Hey 👋🏻

I'm 32 and been TTC no 2 since my cycles came back September last year. I have long irregular cycles and had 3 early miscarriages in the past year. We conceived my first born on cycle 5 of TTC and never realised how long it could take to be honest, naively.

It's been a stressful journey, doctors referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic 19 weeks ago, still no appointment and waiting list was at least 20 weeks unfortunately.

I am currently 10DPO and have tested negative since 8, so didn't test this morning and am just going to expect AF. My luteal phase varies between 10-14 if I'm even actually ovulating!

My heart goes out to all of you who are struggling/ have lost their precious ones x

Mummysparrow · 21/11/2024 09:33

@NamechangeTTC I think it is safe to say they are positive. I used out of date LH strips occasionally and no problems with them.
@SMD16 it is so hard isn't it. I feel for you as that is a long time to wait when you just want answers

NamechangeTTC · 21/11/2024 09:57

@Mummysparrow got an in date test
holding off on the FRER
that’s confirmation at least. Not sure when to retest. Quietly had hoped for 2-3 or 3+
