Help….are my iron tablets effecting my period?

Advice needed please…

I’ve been ttc baby number 2 for over 2 years now. My periods are pretty much constant and only ever stop for a maximum of 4/5 days before coming back on. However, I finished my period on 7th September and have still not come on my period. Not getting my hopes up though. I did start taking Ferrous Fumarate (iron tablets) about 2 weeks ago. Anyone else taken or taking these and effected their period or fertility?

Are you meaning you bleed almost continually? No wonder you need iron supplements. Is the GP actually treating the underlying cause of your constant periods?

In answer to your question, I have taken iron on and off through the past five years and it's not affected my cycle.

Thanks for reply Pyroleus.

Yes, I have been bleeding pretty continuously, have been to doctors many times over the last 2 years and had no issue with iron deficiency. Except when I had a blood test about a month ago it showed I was severely anemic, hence why I am now on iron tablets. I am now a few weeks into this cycle and it’s the longest I’ve not bled. There is no info about iron tablets effecting menstruation or fertility.

I have PCOS but no other underlying medical issues. I’ve been checked for endometriosis and thyroid problems but all normal. I have an internal scan next week regarding my periods, but last time I had one they couldn’t find a problem. I also have a gyno appointment in 10 days as well. All go :/

I'm on the exact same tablets and it doesn't affect my period xx
