Miscarriage- does it change the date of period?

Hi all,

I sadly experienced a miscarriage at 6 weeks recently. Bleeding started and then progressively got worse, and I passed the majority on Saturday 24th August. Usually, my periods are like clockwork, they start on the 4th of the month and last 4 days. My question now is, will my periods revert to the 4th again, or stay around the 24th going forwards?

I had a chemical pregnancy in December, I was around 4/5 weeks. Bleeding started on the 8th December and I got my next period on the 8th January, but then they went back to the 4th again.

Any ideas? Trying to plan TTC and general life!

Sorry for your loss OP, it's an awful experience. It took 3 months to get my period back after my miscarriage. Just let your body heal, it'll sort itself out

Hi OP,
I had a miscarriage (surgically removed) on 8th July and I am still waiting for my period. It took 7 weeks for me to test negative. It depends on how high your HCG was (mine was over 122000!). They advice to test 3 weeks later if it’s still positive then you should book a blood test to make sure HCG is falling and nothing left behind.

Sorry for your loss. I think it’s very unlikely your period will revert to the same date, your body doesn’t know the date. It took me 5-6 weeks to have a period after a miscarriage. It’s very rare to have periods as regular as you’ve had, so do expect some changes since the miscarriage

My period came back about 6 weeks after my miscarriage, then were regular after that, so yes they'll probably become regular again but won't go back to the 4th

Thanks all for your help, it’s been a horrid time and can only be grateful I’ve had support here for the darker days.
