Morning after pill mess up - possibly pregnant

Hi.

So I stupidly didn’t realise that the morning after pill only protected you for that one single instance of unprotected sex (I know I know) and that it simply delayed ovulation, and so we continued to have unprotected sex. Now I’m potentially about 8dpo (I think) and getting BFNs but I feel exactly how I did when I was pregnant first time, which is what alerted me to do some emergency contraception research and make this harrowing discovery. Anyone else had the morning after pill fail? And anyone else about 8dpo right now with BFNs?

So you took it then afterwards continued to have sex?
or you had sex multiple times then took it?

No disrespect but I don’t understand that? Wherever you got the map from did they not explain this? When I had to get it from boots years ago, the pharmacist was very thorough at going through a questionnaire and forms and explained it was only for that one instance and that if I had unprotected sex following that, it would be at risk of pregnancy. Pharmacies have a duty with medications to explain that to you and check you understand

I have heard of failures from the map as you can’t really predict your ovulation and cycle in the same way because of how it works, it’s 95% effective within 24 hours but I guess the odds might be against you with continuing to have unprotected sex during that period of time, especially if multiple times in that period

Not the question you asking but a chance to remind anyone who finds themselves needing the MAP that you remind the provider of your weight . Anything over 70 or 75kg ( sorry , not worked in this field a while ) then you need 2 !

@CockerMum i took the morning after pill then continued to have unprotected sex. Really stupidly I didnt realise that it only delayed ovulation, I thought it stopped it altogether for that month.

@Mercury2702 yeah no one explained that aspect of it at the pharmacy and I’m not well-versed in how it works because I’ve not used it before.

I took it after mine and my exes condom broke and I was actually in the 7 day window where my GP changed my pill. I went for the morning after pill and 3 weeks later found out I was pregnant. I had already ovulated when we had sex xxx

Sorry you’ve found yourself in this situation, I’m really really shocked at that as pharmacists really have to go through all of that especially with a medication that does something as big as preventing pregnancy, did they give you the medication leaflet to read about side effects etc? I’d honestly try and prepare yourself for the fact that you could actually be pregnant
